Snorkelling in september

by inapickle Online Now Mar 18, 2012 at 5:29 AM

Hi All,

Has anyone been to the Seychelles in September and if so what are the conditions like for snorkelling? I am going to be visitng Mahe, Praslin and La Digue and have been told that the trade winds between May-September can make the seas very rough and visibility poor. I am hoping to go at the end of Sep though so wonder if the winds might be dying down by then?

Thanks in advance!

My understanding is that in that season you mentioned it is better to stay on the west coast whatever island you are. Here you find more info about the weather of Seychelles:

I think you pretty much answered your own question! But generally speaking, the best time for snorkeling would be from October through to end April, when the North West trade winds are at their peak.

That being said, I agree with kd235, in that the North West parts of the island are your best bet if snorkeling between May and September, as they are likely to be more sheltered.

All the best, hope you have a great time!
