Praslin - Eating and Sightseeing

I am staying at the Black Parrot on Praslin for my honeymoon. Can anyone recommend where to go for reasonably priced meals around Praslin if we fancy to venture out in the evening? Is it best to visit other resort type hotels. Also, I've been told that it is best to visit a local shop/supermarket to stock up. Would this involve a trip to the nearest beach resort or are there shops dotted around? Is a car recommended for a day or so, to go round the Island to see everything?
