We are looking for an affordable flight from Seward (or Homer) over to Brooks Camp in Katmai Nat'l Park. We are not interested in a sightseeing trip, just simple transportation to and from the park. We plan to camp at Brooks for 1 or 2 nights. Does anyone have any suggestions? All will be greatly appreciated.
I think there are just two ways to get from Homer to Brooks Camp. One is a floatplane charter directly to the camp, and the other is Era / Alaska airlines from Homer to Anchorage to King Salmon, then a local floatplane charter from King Salmon to Brooks. The floatplane charter from Homer will probably run about 600$ each rt, and taking Era, Alaska Air, and a King Salmon charter will be about the same or a little more. So unless you have airline miles saved up I think it would be cheaper to go direct. Another advantage of a floatplane charter from Homer to Brooks is that youll see more of the park, the disadvantage is that your flight schedule is more likely to be influenced by the weather. Mike
