      Linz to Cesky Krumlov

      Linz Dec 29, 2014 at 8:05 PM

Is the best way to get between Linz and Cesky Krumlov, Cz. to take one of the shuttle buses? How reliable are they and what is the best line? I see from the internet there is at least one daily service between the two cities. Is Linz the closest major town in Austria to take a one to two day diversion to this medieval town? After Cesky Krumlov we will make our way to Vienna. Thanks for your help!

I am booking a stay in Vienna in the first week of March 2015, and notice most of the hotels are fully booked or have higher prices during 4 to 7 March. What will be happening in Vienna during this period (4-7 March 2015) ?

We are coming to Salzburg and will continue on to Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, back up through Bosnia & Herzegovina, Hungary and finishing up in Vienna.
Does anyone know if there is a problem with driving a car in through any of these borders?
We've heard a lot of conflicting reports due to higher theft dangers, etc.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Recommendation for a Gasthof or Inn and "must-do" activities?

      Hallstatt Jan 2, 2015 at 6:14 PM

I've researched Hallstatt a bit, and I know I want to spend a day and night there. Has anybody stayed at a reasonably priced and friendly Gasthof there that isn't far from the lake or center of town? Also, if I'm only spending 24 hours there, what would you recommend doing?

Finding authentic Austrian folk music and dancing--or even Zither music?

      Vienna Dec 31, 2014 at 5:39 PM

How do I find restaurants or Heurige that feature authentic Austrian folk music and dancing--or even Zither music? If possible, I am particularly interested in places that aren't too "touristy"--possibly on the outskirts of the city in Heurige?

Quaint village off the beaten path

      Klagenfurt Jan 1, 2015 at 4:33 PM

Is there a quaint Austrian village/town in Kärnten where people are friendly and there is a modest hotel? I'm looking to spend a day and night in such a village, but I will not have a car, so it must be reached by bus or train. I'd just like to take a walk or hike in the hills/mountains surrounding it and experience the quiet life, cuisine, wine, and gemütlichkeit of such a place. I will be spending a few days in Seeboden and Millstatt, but they are quite "touristy."

    • Salzburg area in summer with small children

      Austria Dec 29, 2014 at 1:57 AM

We are planning our summer holiday, but as none of us have been to Austria earlier, we need some expert advice.

We are travelling with two 4-year olds, and are looking for a quiet place with good options for easy hiking and maybe a nearby place for swimming? Would like some shops and places to eat nearby, but we will rent a car, so we can do with a little distance. Would prefer self catering accommodation, but other affordable alternatives could be interesting.

Anyone who could point us in the right direction?

      Travel itenarary advise

      Austria Jan 14, 2015 at 11:39 PM

We are an old age couple and wish to visit Austria this April. We plan to reach Zurich and then travel to Austria by train. We intend to spend 5 to 6 days in Austria. Our main limitation is that we can not walk more than one Km or 2 two at best. Our main interests are
Alpine peaks with lot of snow,
      Beautiful lakes and water falls
Gardens with lot of colourful flowers
Palaces if we have to walk short distances
      Cathedrals with architectural marvels

We do not like museums and any thing related with History.

Our tentative itinerary is one day at Innsbruck, one day at Salzburg and three days at Vienna.

We invite experts to suggest a suitable plan for our travel and visits
Also suggest a budget accommodation near to train stations for places of suggested stay.

    • Visiting Seefeld in october

by Ronikoo Online Now Jul 15, 2014 at 5:41 AM

Hi! Im a 16 year old guy visiting Seefeld next october with my family and i've got a couple of questions.

First of all, hows the weather there in october? What kind of clothing should i bring with me?
I'm also interested in meeting new people during the trip, especially my age. What's the best place to hang out/socialise with other travellers and even locals my age? Or are there even many tourists there in october?

We will also have one daytrip somewhere during our stay, so what are some cool places to go max. 3 hours drive from Seefeld?
Last but not least: Since i'm 16, which is the legal drinking age there, hows the nightlife there? Can i be able to go to a bar or a nightclub there legally? And do you recommend any nightclubs/bars there? I know i'm young but luckily my parents are chill about the subject and don't have any problems with me possibly going out a couple of times during our trip.

Sorry bout the long list of questions, but all answers are seriously appreciated!

(I will also be going to a spa at Hotel Diana and am would like to know how far away it is from that.) Since I'm coming to Seefeld for a daytrip from Munich, I'm also wondering how large the christmas market is and how long to spend there? (I know this is a subjective question!) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I stayed at the Hotel Philippe in 1980 on a family holiday. My mother exchanged christmas cards with the family owners for years after. I also recall the youngest son showing me how to flatten coins on the train track at the back of the Hotel.
Can anyone tell me what it is now called, and any other information relating to the family that ran it back then.

Whch ski resort, Seefeld or Neustift?

by babypuffolina Online Now Oct 18, 2008 at 10:06 AM

i`m travelling to Austria on the 20th january-29th january, with my husband and daughter. We`re flying to munich airport, and planning on staying 7 nights in a ski resort and 2 back in munich so not to have to travel for hours to get back to the airport the day we are leaving.I`ve been advised Seefeld and Neustift, but i`m confused between the 2. We`re a young family i`m just gone 26, my husband is 31 and our daughter is 6 so we`re looking for a nice family resort with plenty to do as we are not skiers, (but will probably give it a go), nice shops, good pubs, plenty of snow in the village, so that we don`t end up being bored. I was very interested in St. Anton but was advised not to go as it wouldn`t be suitable for families because it`s too lively. as i said we don`t mind livelyness as long as it`s not unsuitable to bring a child.
Has anybody got any good suggestions? Another option i was told to take is to wait last minute to see if there will be snow at resorts like Kitzbuhel or Zell am See. Kitzbuhel would be ideal for us but i`m afraid there won`t be snow!

by Andreiuta Online Now Sep 29, 2006 at 12:28 PM

I will go to Seefeld, Austria this winter, flying to Innsbruck. I am not planning in getting a car – I’ll simply ride the ski buss. My return flight takes off at 6:30 AM. I was wondering if there is any way to get from Seefeld back to the airport so early in the morning. If not, I will have to book a room in Innsbruck for the last night.

Also, can anyone recommend me a place where to stay in Seefeld? Thanks!
