Can't Carry a Liquid Gift

by giampiero6 Online Now Feb 24, 2012 at 6:23 PM

I was going to be traveling to Seattle and had planned to check a bag with a gift in that was a bottle of scotch. I won't be able to make the trip now, but I would like to send a gift to a friend. I wonder if anyone knows any good resource in Seattle that I could call to purchase a bottle of scotch and have them deliver it to a friend. Anybody have any idea? Many thanks.

If you check in the liquid its allowed. Only carry on's are not allowed to have liquids over 3oz. Check in luggage is no problem. Someone made a huge mistake in telling you this.

I think he is NOT able to make the trip now. Perhaps a florist could pick up a bottle of "whatever" for you and deliver it as if it were flowers. He would make money and your gift would be delivered.

Just checked, Seattle liqour stores are state controlled and delivery may be very hard to accomplish due to this. However if you google Seattle Liqour stores you may be able to speak to someone in a store and see if the individual store would delivery for you. Otherwise you may have to order on line and have the scotch delivered that way via UPS or Fedex.

Seriously G! I have friends in Seattle on here and so you must also. I would not hesitate to ask my friends to do that. I would do it if I were there, I am sure you would do it if someone of your friends asked you to do the same.

The state control of the liquor stores ends sometime in May I think. There was a "citizens initiative" (actually sponsored by Costco) to change the law. If it is something that can wait a few months, this might be easier to handle at that time.
