The only youth hostel I am familiar with and have heard good things about is the Green Tortoise. I saw it from the outside when I was in Seattle on November 30th of this year. It is located on the corner of 100 block of Pike Street and is in shouting distance of the Pike Place Market.

If you are coming into Seattle via the sonic light rail you can take it all the way to the end of the line at the Westlake Station. Then go out the Pike Street exit and it is just three blocks on the same side of the street.

It is my understanding that rooms start at 28 a night and include a free breakfast. Amazing rate and great location.
