Hello
I'm planning a trip in Scotland this summer, and was wondering if someone knew of a good web site to make hotels/hostels reservations, with user comments and grades?
Google returned quite a lot of hits (www.bit.ly/11dNMXL) when searching for hotels, so it's hard to know. I usually go through Hostelworld, but this trip involves staying at small towns, so it doesn't look like a good option this time.
Thank you.
I think that www.smoothhound.co.uk is a good site for this trip. :-).

hostelbookers.com/hostels/sc...
visitscotland.com/accommodat... You can enter the area where you want to stay, then you will see a list of hotels, then it will take you to the hotel website where you can see customer's testimonials

Thanks for the links. That will help finding where to stay and how much time to spend where.

We've used www.booking.com which you can sort by price and has reviews. We've always been satisfied with the accommodation. You can also get reviews at our sister web site www.tripadvisor.com.
Enjoy Scotland.

Hi! Along with the above recommendations , www.venere.com offers reviews and searches based around budget/location etc with no money up front and chance to cancel upto 48 hours before arrival.
I also use www.booking.com a lot for the same reason.
If you have solid plans you can often get a bargain if you chose the non cancellation option.
Have A Great trip- look forward to reading about your visit and tips!

Good thought. We use venere.com too and have gotten some great bargains there.

In addition to previous answers, try the Undiscovered Scotland website: undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/i...
Apart from accommodation listings it has a lot of information about all areas of Scotland and what to do and see. I found getting around the website slightly confusing at first, but worth getting used to it for the useful information. Hope this helps. Bruce

http://www.hostel-scotland.co.uk/
The above link is a pretty good guide to hostels in Scotland I ususally book direct. Not all hostels are in large towns, in fact a couple I have stayed in recently are very rural indeed. A good inexpensive way to travel.

There are so many sites for hostels. I picked up the booklet for the Scottish Youth Hostel Association today. The SYHA site is
www.hostellingscotland.com

Thanks, I didn't know that site either. I usually go through HostelWorld, but it only had a few of them on Skye.
