I will have a 12 hour daytime layover in Amsterdam flying from Nairobi to New York JFK. Delta (where ticket was purchased) says I will have to claim my bags and take them with me and KLM gives no information. The same thing happens when returning to Nairobi from Boston. 2 years ago some friends had 22 hour layovers in Amsterdam going to and from Detroit and had no problems with checked bags going through.

You might be able to recheck them immediately after getting them thru customs via the checkin counter at Schiphol..... dustmon
