Depending on how many Euros you have got to burn, a beach barbeque at strandtent Sol is not a bad option. You literally sit right on the beach, they stoke up the coals for you and deliver plates of shrimp and meat which you then BBQ yourself in your own time. Stones throw distance from the Kurhaus. I do not know if it is still there but at the Hotel Bali is a great Indian place that has the best Indian food I have ever had any place in the world. I hope it is still there. Keith

Thanks all .... and no Gili, the fries and mayo weren t an option ! lol Sol beach tent (url = http://www.solbeach.nl/) looked good (bali was a bit too expensive) and i have emailed sol about reservation/information. still open for any suggestions! roelien

Keith...Bali is not there anymore...indeed a shame... I would recommend the restaurants in the 2e Binnenhaven, some really nice (fish) restaurants over there!

I don't know strandtent Sol Rolien... In fact, I hate the strandtenten in front of the boulevard, I always go to the "Noorderstrand" its 10 minutes walking to the right...less tourists, or I have diner at Wanadoo strandtent, it is near the harbour, a very relaxed place to have a drink or having diner at the beach. I went there last year with VT member Guantnamera too as a tiny VT meeting...

Roelien, I remember a great fish restaurant, somewhere at the harbour front. Just a wooden shed, but excellent food; no reservation necessary.

Roelien, I think it was at the Dr. Lelykade, opposite the sealocks. Too long ago to remember the name. Go for the fish dinner! PJ

haha thanks pj ... and anja :-) we just went as far as we could walk after having walked all afternoon and ended up at la galleria, next to the kurhaus. haha not a bad location, we almost sat at the same table as the Groningen mayor ;-) food was good, tho the chicken was over cooked...goat cheese and salad were great! and it was gooooooooood to be there :-) roelien
