Hello When traveling to Satu Mare. How would one look up family members of the past and present? Thank you so much
If you know at least the family name of any present relatives try searching the Romanian phone books on http://www.paginialbe.ro/en (it's in English), you might find their address. The county name (required for searches on that site) is also Satu Mare. For past members I guess you could search at the local archives (1 Decembrie 1918 street, no. 13), though getting permission might be complicated. Try sending them an email (satumare.an@mira.gov.ro), they might give you more details.

I wonder if your relatives were jewish we get a lot of prople visiting the hostel in Sighet looking for thier jewish family members. If so try contacting the Cinagogue or staff at Elllie Wiesel museum in Sighet Marmatiei who may be able to help you.
