Never visited Sardinia before - got 2 free tickets from Meridiana
Any recommendations as to where to stay. Plan to visit May - suggestions for sightseeing - hotel base with beach. What will the weather be. All help much appreciated
I plan to travel to Sardinia the 2 last weeks of december this year. I don't drive; buses are ok but the freedom limited. So I thought maybe I could hire a island native and his private car for 2 or 3 days to drive me around. Good for me and it could be good also for a Sardinian willing to earn a little extra cash?
I don't know how to go about it and I wish to have already a contact before landing there. An idea anybody? Thankx
My question is more directed to the local population I guess...
Driving into Olbia from Alghera for a few hours before going to airport for flight out. Where to park hire car? what would be best to do in Olbia for tourist with a few hours to spend and a nice restaurant to eat nice local dishes before going to airport. Thank you for help. AA
What are the trains like from Olbia to Cagliari? Are they comfortable, as they are Regional trains. I want to book well in advance but cannot.
Do the Green Trains run in October and can one go on the mouuntain ride (Mandas Arbatax) at that time.
What is the experience like
Our cruise ship is going to the port of Cagliaria (Sardinia). We will be in port from 11 am to 6 pm. We are looking for recommendations of what to do as opposed to doing one of the cruiselines organized tours.
my first time in sardinia and i will arrive in 30 may 2015 at 12 pm and i want to go to arbatax ( haven't my driving license) what is the best way with low cost .
Do I need a licence to hire a boat for the day?
Hi. I´d like to eat ordinary local food in Alghero, just lige the local people of Alghero eat it on a normal day. Where is that possible....please...?
What is Alghero like for teenage boys. We will be travelling with a 16 and 14 year old. They are very active - love soccer, surfing, skating. They'll need a bit of freedom if they are to have a good time. Is Alghero safe for them to go off on their own? Are there parks where they can kick a ball around? A beach they can go swimming at? Also what is Sardegna like generally for cycling from place to place...
We arrive with Grimaldi ferry from Barcelona to Porto Torres on 22th August at 11.30am. We want to get a ferry from Santa Teresa to Bonifacio with Moby ferrys at 15h. We have seen in google maps that the journey by road from Porto Torres to Santa Teresa is about 1h44m so I guess that would have enough time to get the 15h ferry.
Can anyone confirm this?
HI, myself and my husband will be visiting Cagliari for 10 days at the end of April. We will be visiting friends who will be moored on their yacht at the Marina di Sant' Elmo. Ideally, we would like to stay very near the Marina, so that we only have a short walk to and from their boat each day.
Does anybody have any recommendations of accommodation please? Ideally we would like self catering but price is a big factor too.
Many thanks for all answers. Always appreciate the help here!
I have been getting price quotes for a one day rental this summer, and Palmasera is 20 euros cheaper than the others. It looks like they are a new business with very few reviews. Anyone on VT that has used their boats? Thanks!
Can anyone tell me what time is it good to get to this event in order to get a good place to stand to see this race? What time does the race start? Where is a good place to park?
We would like to rent a house for a month or two in Sardinia next summer. I would love to walk to Beach, get to know about Sardinian Wine and buy local seasonal ingredients from Open Market and cook every day. Is it possible to find a house where I can do all of these things?
We want 3 or 4 bedroom near a beach in a little town. We are family of 4 (2 year old and 5 year old) It would be nice to have few local stores / markets and restaurants but doesn't have to be a big town. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
What is the best sightseeing route to travel from north to south in Sardinia?
Can you recommend some quiet beaches close to La Saline suitable for a 2 year old to play. We will have a car so can travel a few miles. Sand and rock pools would be ideal. La Saline beach looks unattractive. We are visiting in the first week in September. We are happy to walk some way from the car.
Would Costa Smeralda be suitable for a small wedding party it's my daughters wedding
We are going to Sardegna in the second half of August (19/8-2/9) and will be staying in agriturismo somewhere between Sassari and Porto Torres. It's not that close to the nearest beach (around 5-6 km) and that would be in Porto Torres, I assume.
Can you please give us some advices about where to go to the beaches (we will be hiring a car, since we have our 3-years old daughter with us, so parking question is also very interesting).
Something else to look at there in the neighbourhood? Something we should think about?
Thank you for any information about the region!
I'm on vacation from 4th july to 15th.
Can someone tell me which beaches are the most beautiful for swimming around Castelsardo, Sassari?
Hello. We are in Castelsardo and we need to get to Alghero airport on Monday by 10 am. Does anyone know how to get there?
Hi everyone! I’m traveling to Sardegna with two girlfriends for about 10 days in early July. Unfourtunately, we wont be renting a car (I know it would be better if we could, but sadly none of us have our licenses!)
We are taking a ferry from Genova to Porto Torres and heading straight over to Alghero (still haven’t decided whether to stay in a campsite or hostel). We’ll stay in Alghero for three nights, with day trips to La Pelosa, l’Asinara island and le Grotte del Nettuno. Then we’ll head over east, stopping one night in Santa Teresa de Gallura so that we can visit valle della luna (still not exactly sure how to get to the valle though, though I heard that from Capo Testa/Cala Spinosa you can walk). Next stop: Palau or Cannigione and a day boat/kayak trip of the islands Maddalena. On our way to Olbia/San Teodoro (not sure which of the two), maybe swing by Porto Cervo for a couple of hours just to see what it’s like. We then want to head in land for a day, maybe to Orgosolo or Mammaoiada...we were thinking of doing the Gorrupu trek but that might be too much, since we want to spend ½ days exploring the gulf of Orosei (we were thinking of kayaking instead of renting a boat…would it still be possble to see Cala Goloritze, Cala Mariolu, Cala Luna). Is it better to stay in Orosei or Arabtax (advantage there being we can then take the trenino verde/little green train south). FInal stop, Villasimius/Cagliari for 2 nights.
Any advice or suggestions would be very much appreciated!!
We are planning to visit Alghero in a week time.
This is our first visit to Alghero and we have all the camping gears so thinking to camp there.
I heard there is some free camp site, although I couldn't find any on google..
If anybody know any nice camp site, either free or not, please let me know!
We are pretty easy going, so as long as we can enjoy beach and sleep nicely
we don't want any luxurious thing!
Would be great if you know somewhere not too busy and loud though.
Looking for a good place to go fishing near the Maristella/Porto Conte area
we will arrive at Alghero Airport very late in the evening (23:55 p.m). Does anybody know a good transportation then - the busses are running only until 23:00 pm and as far as I figured out the car rentals are closing also at 23:00 pm and you have to pay extra fee then if you still want to rent a car. How much would a taxi cost and is it wise to reserve one in advance? Any recommendations would be highly appreciated.
How old should children bee to manage the walk to the old village in Tinscali?

I shall visit Alghero in May as a tourist. Are there any places where you can dance salsa?
The only company I can find doing a tour to Bari , Lecce, Trulli Valley area of Italy is Go Ahead Tours. Does anyone have information on them? I have never heard of them and can't find much independent information on the internet about them. Thanks.
How much is a bus ticket ?
