I am currently in Sao Paolo City and will be here until the end of the month ( May). I wonder where I can watch Copioera and a football games live. Thanks
Hi, Sorry I can't help you with your capoeira enquiry but here are a few football matches that you may be able to catch in São Paulo: May 16 at 9h50 PM: São Paulo x Goiás - Morumbi stadium May 19 at 6h30 PM: Palmeiras x Portuguesa - Pacaembu stadium May 25: São Paulo x Bahia - Morumbi stadium Payments only in cash and you may have to show an ID (with photo). For those Morumbi games, you can buy your ticket at the stadium (bilheteria) or ticket points (pontos de venda). You can find the respective addresses here: saopaulofc.net/ingressos/com... The general sale for "Palmeiras x Portuguesa" match at the Palestra Itália stadium starts on May 16. If you'd like to buy your ticket at Pacaembu, they'll only be available on the day of the match from 10 AM until the first half of the match. Ticket prices: from R$ 30,00 to R$ 160,00. If I were you, I would choose the "Palmeiras x Portuguesa" match because Pacaembu is easily reached by public transportation or even on foot from Avenida Paulista. Morumbi stadium is very far from the city center, except you're staying in that area.

In Salvador, for example, there are several locations where capoeira groups give demonstrations for tourists of this important piece of local African-based culture. Since Sao Paulo is a business city, those opportunities may not exist outside of one of the studios where a mestre gives classes. Your Google search for them is probably as good as mine.

There's this capeira group called "Geração Capoeira" who seems to have an open gathering at "MASP" (http://masp.art.br), every last Sunday of the month (the time isn't mentioned on their website...). http://www.geracaocapoeira.com.br You missed a few capoeira events this month, but I found these other 2: 1) Tuesday, May 15 from 8 to 11 PM at this cultural center called "Casa Mestre Ananias" on Rua Conselheiro Ramalho, 939 - Bela Vista. mestreananias.blogspot.com/2... 2) Sunday, May 20 from 9 AM to 1 PM at "Auditório do CEU Butantã" on Avenida Engenheiro Heitor Antônio Eiras Garcia, 1870 - Butantã / Rio Pequeno - São Paulo centroeducacionalunificadobu... The 1st option is more an intimate gathering and it is located in an area that I wouldn't hang out by myself at night. The 2nd one is very far from the city center, but you can take a bus to get there (total travel time: 1h38 from Avenida Paulista). I don't know that area but at least it's in the morning. Use Google Map's Street View functionality to visualize the area.

Glad to hear it. If you have some free time, why don't you share your experience with other VT users by writing a travel tip? I'm sure there are many people who would like to know about watching a football game in São Paulo and/or the football museum.
