Spicy Orange Dipping Sauce for Bread?

I was in Sao Paulo last year and went to restaurant that brought bread and 3 different sauces out before our meal arrive and I'm trying to figure out what the sauces were? The one in particular was an orange, pumpkiny paste that seemed to have a little oil on top and it had a spicy taste to it. We could not communicate with the waiter so we could not find out what it was. but tried. What is it called and what is it? Any ideas? Thanks in advance, Wooodman
