I was in Santarini last week and bought a piece at Golden Santarini. I need their email address, phone number and address please. Thank you for your help. Sincerely, Ruth Blasko
We're considering a visit to Santorini for Christmas week. would love suggestions for a nice hotel. We'll likely rent a car so I'm not too worried about long walks to get to what action there might be. Will there be enough places open - live music anytime - restaurants etc.? Thanks for any help.
We will be traveling to Greece with our daughter, son-in-law, and 2 grans (age 9 and 12) in early June 2012. We were thinking that 4 nights would be perfect. Can anyone recommend a hotel with a family room for 6? Or would we be better off renting a private villa. Cost is a consideration...We're hoping to spend about 400 euros a night for lodging. Any suggestions? Thanks, Marilyn
Hi! Myself and a friend both turn 50 next June and so are looking to celebrate with a visit to Santorini, with our families, their age ranges are mid -late 20's and a two year old toddler. There is such a choice of places to stay that we have become baffled, could any of you lovely travellers out there recommend anywhere suitable to stay, to keep the price reasonable I suspect we need to either go self catering or all inclusive but we are keeping our minds open. I hope I am going to get lots of tips and advice heading my way. Thank you in advance Acirfa
looking for a taxi from the ferry terminal to Kavalari Hotel - how much the taxi fare would be - thanks
Hi, Our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids, aged 2 and 4 years old) will be visiting Santorini on Oct 23-24. We will be staying in Oia. Our plane arrives in Santorini at 9:20am. I was planning on booking a caldera/volcano/hot springs/thirissa day trip that leaves old port of fira at 10:30 am. Is it advisable to do this trip with 2 young kids or is it too difficult for the children??? If the caldera boat trip is NOT suitable for young kids, can anyone please suggest other activities that we can do to enjoy and see sites of santorini?? Thank you...
Hi Everyone, I'm planning a trip to Greece for our anniversary at the end of September. I'd love to manage for us to watch the sunset at Oia on our anniversary night. We are arriving from Mykonos on a ferry. I've searched a lot but don't seem to find any ferry ports at Oia! Can you help me with that? All I see is Thira but I would love to arrive at Oia. Is that possible? If so, are there ferries that arrive in the evening, perfect timing for the sunset? If I can't arrive to Oia and my only option is Thira, then the ferry will arrive at 16:45. Is that enough time to make it to the top of the castle to watch the sunset? Lastly, I wouldn't mind watching it somewhere less touristy and more private. Are there options there? Thank you in advance, Lana
Hi, We're arriving on a late boat from Kos in early October - at about 2am. We're hoping to stay in Fira. Will there be any buses at that late hour or is it taxis only? Thanks curlydog
Hi. we're arriving in santorini airport 9am Oct 23. I was planning or having an organised transfer to old port of fira, and do the caldera/hot springs/oia sunset day tour from a wooden boat on Oct 23. Do I need to book the boat tour in advance or can I just purchase the ticket when I get to the port of fira??? I've been emailing pelican travel about the airport transfer and the boat tour, but they haven't responded. can anyone recommend a travel agent or company who can help me with booking my boat tour and transfer???
Hi! I will be in Santorini for a few days next week. We are staying in the village of Kertarados. What are the best places to see the magical sunset in Santorini? Any other tips in terms of best time to see the sunset in full glory , or best taverna, restaurant to while away the evening while waiting for the sunset? I have picked a few child friendly beaches based on the VT reviews but any additional inputs are much appreciated. My son is 6 years old, so will prefer a shallow and safe area. Thanks in advance!
I'm going crazy trying to decide in which 'city' to stay in Santorini. I'm choosing between Oia, Imerovigli and Firostefani. I'll be going at the end of August/beginning of September for 3 nights (with my husband). I want beauty but also some night life. I had decided on Oia until I read a post that there are very few places to go there at night...and that it's isolated from the rest of Santorini. We are a middle aged couple so aren't into wild bars but do enjoy going out at night for a late dinner and/or to hear music. This decision is driving me crazy!
In 2 weeks I will travel with my family (husband and 2 kids), do some island hopping as we do every summer, but for the first time in Santorini. We never reserve rooms beforehand, it's part of the fun, but this time I'm a little worried, should I book? Prices on the usual internet booking companies seem very high, maybe we'll be lucky as usual or it's too risky? What do you advice me to do?
So I don't really know if the island is huge or not. is there a city centre ? are those blue and white houses everywhere or at certain place ? (because thats why I'm visiting the island) where can I find reasonabe prices for the hotels but not in a remote area? Thanks for helping me with everything here. Great site :)
Hi I have been looking at a lot of forums and everyone seems to want a view of the Caldera. We are looking for a view also but want to be surronded with also a view of the other buildings. I think I am probably thinking of Oia and have a vision of white and blue with pathways and stairs around the hotel. We are two females travelling together so looking or more of a funky character place rather than a romantic luxury hotel. If anyone has any thoughts I would appreciate it. We are hoping to not pay more than 125 Euros a night? Thanks so much.
We arrive at Santorini airport at 6.15am and can only check in at 3PM. We're five adults with three big bags and need to spend the next 8hrs. or so before checking in. Any suggestions as to how we spend our time? Are there any day cruises or something of that kind? Thanks in advance.
My son and I will be spending a week on Santorini in late summer. He's in graduate school and will need to have internet access on a daily basis so he can do schoolwork. It would be best if it was WiFi internet access, since the materials he'll need to deal with are loaded on his own computer. What are his prospects in this regard?
I am going to be working abroad next summer at a hotel as apart of my required college internship. I am really interested in choosing one in Santorini because of the beautiful views and how it is one of Greece's most famous islands/destinations. Recently I was told Santorini was full of couples. I am worried because I am a college student, will be 21 at the time, and am looking for a good time while I'm there. Is that true? Are there a lot of 20-25year olds or just honeymooners? Thanks! If so I am thinking of switching to Athens. Any insight on Athens for a college student's summer in Greece?
Hello, My husband and I are taking our two teen daughters (14 & 16) to Athens, Santorini and Naxos this summer and are looking for suggestions of what we should do. We are an active family (albeit with sometimes lazy teenagers. Below is the basics of what we might do but any advice is welcome! On Santorini, we will be there 3 nights and 3 full days. We will go to the Ia and Amoud Bay and some of the beaches -- suggestions on which ones? We live in California and have black sand here so that is not such a big deal to us (and it gets very hot!). Are staying in town of Thira so will bop around there a bit. Thanks everyone. jennifer
Dear all, I am going to Santorini Island in two weeks, so excited!!! Is there any one can advice me about the ferry from thira to Rodos, and Rodos to marmaris? Should I book ferry ticket in advance? or can I easy to buy ferry ticket after I arrive? thanks Greta
We arrive at 11am& dept at 6pm on a cruise ship and are wondering if we should take the time to go to Oia, hot springs or volcano or should we just spend the day in Thira? What would be the best way to spend our time or the best sights to see? We don't want to spend too much, so are fine taking the bus (to Oia). I also found some tours on boats to these same places and thought those may be a good idea since they are around 28e pp. Does anyone have any good itineraries for this amount of time?
Which town or side of Santorini is best for this sunset that everyone always going about? Also, which town is best to stay in for a couple in their 60s? You know, stuff to do like eating and shopping but no bloody 18-30 people. Cheers.
Let's meet at Laokasti Restaurant at 7pm on May 17 to celebrate Greece. Laokasti is located on the main road across from the Church of St. George, about 250 meters past the Perivolas Market as you enter Oia. If you see the Restaurant Alikona you've gone too far. I hope to see you there!
i would like to stay in a traditional cave house, made into a hotel, with a caldera view. i can spend about 60 euro per night. any suggestions? thanks! miklik
i will be arriving by ferry in may, soes anyone know if i can get a water taxi from there to kamari, or how much a regular taxi would be? i'm travelling solo.
I'd like to invite those of you travelling to Santorini in May to meet me for dinner. Depending on when you'll be there it can be any night between May 10-17. I'll set aside one night for this based on who's available, selecting the night on which the majority of you who respond can attend. So put on your thinking caps and let me know. We'll meet in Oia at Laokasti Restaurant, same as last time, at 7pm. Food is reasonably-priced there so you don't have to spend a lot of money. We had a lot of fun last time! I'm also posting this invitation here in the Miscellaneous Forum as well as on other Greece Travel Forum websites.
Hi, We (Husband+Me) are visiting Santorini for 3 nights frm May8 to 10. In our list of things to do, we would love to take a trip to one of the close-by islands Can someone please suggest, How to reach Nea Kamini and Palea kamini from Santorini and what are the costs? Is it better to take prepaid tours or go on your own? We want to go from Santorini to Craters and then go to the Hot Springs and then back to Santorini. A nice half day tour would be nice.
What is the best way to get from the pier to the hotels?
Hi. I realize the beaches are on the other end of the island, but if staying at oia or fira, is it possible/easy to get down to the ocean for a swim. Thanks
we have about a half day in Santorini on a cruise ship. We are thinking about a private bus tour for 10-12 people with Thira tours. Does anyone know if Thira tours is a reputable firm or have any recommendations on what highlights we should choose? We are also considering a boat tour to the volcano and hot springs but won't be able to do both, so which would be the recommended tour?
Hi My husband and I will be on Santorini for 2.5days from 19th March. I know most things will be closed and weather may be tempermental. I'm not into sunbathing or night life (just good restaurants with possibly a view). My to do list is: - See the different coloured beaches for photos (I've only seen white sand beaches). - Boat trip to the hotspring/volcano. - Walk to Oia from Imerovigli to see the town and sunset We do not want to hire a car. We are happy to walk, take buses or taxis. Reading the forums it seems like Imerovigli is a lovely place to stay with good views and walkable to Fira for buses. Would you recommend Imerovigli in winter? Are there many buses in winter? The KTEL website only shows the summer timetable and I assume my guidebook list the summer frequency of buses. Also, is it easy to call a taxi to collect us and take us to the next location? Thanks
