We are arriving into Fira Santorini in July by air at 6.05 in the morning... will there be public transport available to get into Fira as our hotel does not do pickups in July/August... thinking cheap
Hello guys, I have a few questions..
1) As I'm going to Santorini in the future maybe Mid Dec, (I know this is not the best time but this is the chance as I want to experience Santorini firsthand and opportunities like this doesn't come too often), is there any ferries service from Piraeus to Santorini on daily basis? Is it safe? Are the schedules reliable this time of the year? Bcs flight is kinda expensive and I want save a few bucks
2) Accomodation. I personally loved Scirocco Hotel but I understand they're closed (damn!) during Nov/Dec so what are my best substitute for them? In terms of location and style (you know, those blue and white washed walls and great view of houses left, right, down). I'm really looking up to stay a place which are surrounded by other hotels but with a good direct seaview of course. Maybe something around 100Euro per night? I looked at several sights but sometimes the photos are a deceiving.
3) I noticed that there are none halal certified restaurants around Santorini, so I should go on vege diet or seafood (which is just as great), so can you guys suggest a few reasonable seafood joints in Fira.
4) Is there a way I could come from Istanbul to Athens by train? And from Santorini to Turkey via ferries? Is it a good option?
5)Thinking of spending 2D1N in Santorini, what should I really do for a first timer?
I know its quite a lot so to those who are willing to help hopefully God can repay your kindness or something like that. Thanks in advance!
On January 3rd I need to arrived in Santorini from Crete. I've been searching and haven't found any boat trips. This route exists in January or is it cancelled? Does it exist the posibility once beeing in Crete to find a boat to take me to Santorini? Companies like sea Jets, Hellenic Seaways, etc. apparently don't do this route in winter. Hope you could help me!!
Hi,can you please recommend me good restaurants in Fira. We prefer sea food and if possible not very touristy.

Hi, can you pls advise me if there are water taxis that can take us from the port in Fira to Oia - thanks
we'll only be in santorini from 7:00am - 6:00 pm.... we booked a tour from our cruise line that starts at 8:00am until 12:00 noon (we figured it would be more efficient & we can get to oia faster if we book morning tour from them) and then do our own thing after the tour, which is eat at Seagul and go hotel hopping (we want to see perivolas and 1864 The Sea Captain's House).....
my questions are:
1. do you recommend just walking for our hotel hopping (we just want to see perivolas and 1864 The Sea Captain's House)? how much time do we need to allot for this?
2. how much time do we need to allot to go from oia to fira (for the cable car)
3. from oia, how do we get to fira (for the cable car)
4. how much time do we need to allot for the cable car lines in fira to get to the tender dock (i read somewhere that the cable car lines get very long)
5. how much time do we need to allot from the tender dock back to our ship?
thanks in advance!
Will we find it easy to get a taxi from Imerovigli back to Fira after sunset (October 1)?
We hope to take a half day land tour of the island, not really interested in a tour by boat. I am seeing some that look good but are priced at about $300-400 for up to 4 people. We are only two. If I don't book in advance, am I likely to see the same prices and is there a chance we might hook up with another couple of people to split the cost 4 ways instead of 2? Any recommendations for the best tours would also be welcome as well as anything else you think might help our short stay.
We want to go from santorini to mykonos tomorrow, what's the best way? Flight or ferry and how much? Thanks
Top ten things to do in Santorini. Only in port for 10 hours.

my question is there a way we could see atleast a part of akrotiri or atleast something similar to akrotiri in santorini?
if not, is there any akrotiri-like place we could go to on these places:

I'm going to Kamari this summer with my wife and her parents. My wife's father i a paraplegic and sits in a (manually) wheelchair. I know that there is a lot of steps in Santorini, but useually its no problem, we went to Crete a few years ago and it wasn't a problem. The biggest problem was to find toilets that he could use. Anybody knows where to find toilets for disabled people in Fira and Oia???
Thank you in advance.

I visited a music store in Santorini 10 years ago and purchased a wonderful cd by greek composer,
Mikaahi Hikovouahi "xphemoe". I know the spelling is different in Greek.
Where can I find a replacement CD?

Can somebody tell me the name of the central street in Fira, Santorini? I am trying to select a hotel somewhere in the center, so we could go for a walk at night. May be you can recommend me a centrally located hotel within $150-200 US a night?
We will be in Santorini in September and are considering walking from Fira to Oia. Our ship arrives at 1400 and leaves at 2200. First of all, is it easy enough to take a bus from Fira to Imerovigli then walk to Oia? Or better to walk from Fira to Imerovigli then take a bus to Oia? Then, if we eat a sunset dinner in Oia, is it easy to take a bus back to Fira, with plenty of time to get to our ship which leaves at 2200? Any and all suggestions will be appreciated. Also, actually how LONG is the walking from Fira to Imerovigli to Oia?
Hi, my plane comes into santorini from stockholm at 2am on a tuesday in July. Will taxis be readily available or should I prebook a transfer? Thanks
How is the food in Santorini? We'll be staying in Firostefani, not far from Fira, and hope to find some relaxing places for our meals; lunch and dinner. Also, for breakfast, we have the option of paying extra for it at our hotel, but might like to try a nearby bakery or other place instead. And if we are lucky, we can find a grocery store that sells take-away foods (cheese, fruit, bread...)
Hi, I'll be in Santorini for 3 days (early July) with a couple of friends and we're looking for a cheap/decent place to stay if possible. We found out that there's a lot of accommodations in Fira, Imerovigli and Perissa.
However, we'll still unsure of which area would be the best in terms of prices and its accessibility to other areas in santorini. Basically, our itinerary for the 3 days would be to explore around as much and also to relax and enjoy the sceneries. Hope to get some insights. =)
Is September a good time to visit Greek Islands?
Currently have 4 days booked in Santorini. Travelling on my own and starting to think that it will be too long. Thinking of going back to Mykonos for the other 2 days. More things to do for a single gay guy. Will 2 days be enough to see the sights of Santorini?
We are a family of 9 persons with 1 Senior Citizen, 4 Adults & 4 Children aged 9, 10 & 12+, 16.
We have already booked the 3-Night Louise Cruise in Greece.
Now we require to book the Private Land Arrangements / Sightseeing (9 PAX Van with guide)
Sun 2nd Jun Cruise
1630 pm arrival Santorini, Greece, departure 2100
We are a family of 9 including children.
This is our tentative schedule:
1st June Ferry from Athens to Mykonos 07:35 - 13:15
2nd June Ferry from Mykonos to Santorini 14:45 - 17:10
4th June flight to Athens and then on to Istanbul (Turkey).
Another option was that we could take the 01:25 am early morning ferry from Santorini to Athens (arrival 08:00 am), and then fly to Istanbul. (If advisable)
We could reverse the process
1st June Piraeus to Santorini (Thira) 07:00 - 11:50 Star Jet
2nd or 3rd June Santorini to Mykonos 11:55 - 14:20 Super Jet
3rd June Mykonos to Athens ferry 16:00 = 18:50 Super Jet, or flight to Athens on 4th June from Mykonos
4th June Athens to Istanbul flight
I do not know of any other way to get to Istanbul from Mykonos or Santorini.
