I´ll go to Greece, arriving in Athens 24th September. I´ll go after to Mykonos and Santorini. I need be in Istanbul 02 October. So, I tryed find a way to arrive Turkey, and the route Kos-Bodrum seems a good option. I ask you if is possible go from Santorini to Kos. I access www.ferriesingreece.com but this route isn´t offer ferry on Sept/October. To planning my travel I need know these info. Another thing: someone told me that winds to much in Islands that time. this maybe reason to have not transportation, anyone knows about it? Can you help me? May you suggest another route to go Turkey?
There is a ferry betweeen Santorini and Kos. You can see the schedules here once they are official. http://www.gtp.gr The winds are very strong in July and August but in September and October they are not too strong. You can also get to Turkey from the Greek islands of Samos, Lesvos Kos and Chios.

I meant Rhodes as well as Kos.

Check the timetable quite carefully as a lot of the routes really only run through the peak tourist season. From the beginning of Sept the frequency starts to drop off. Here's another link that may help with the combinations available. turkeytravelplanner.com/tran...

Normally there aren't strong winds at the Greek Archipelago during autumn. To my opinion September is the best month to sail in the Mediterranean. To find the connections you're interested in, please search at www.openseas.gr, www.aktopoloika.gr, www.ferries.gr or www.travelplanet24.com to find some alternatives. Have a nice journey!

The preferred ferry route with the current routes would be: Piraeus > Santorini > Mykonos > Syros > Samos. or Piraeus > Santorini > Mykonos > Syros > Kos/Rhodes. The reason for that is it's currently easier to get to Kos/Samos by going through Syros. The alternative Santorini > Rhodes is only 2x a week and of course is further from istanbul. Samos > Kusadasi, Kos > Bodrum, Rhodes > Marmaris are the main crossing points to Turkey. The most northerly and closest to Istanbul is Kusadasi. The ferry routes you need run all year, certainly into Sept/Oct they don't stop as suggested previously. The ferries are large and winds are not a factor in September. People who suggest otherwise have just wrongly copied stuff from people who have never used Greek ferries.
