We are cycling the Camino Way in April this year and need to get back to Santander Airport from the finish in Santiago de Compostello on 6th April. Other than hiring a car, is there any buses or trains that we can get for the journey back ?
By all means you can bus with www.alsa.es - but a journey of not less than near eight hours would not be to my taste - and train will be indirect and longer. Flight from Santiago to Bilbao and local bus or train to Santander, perhaps.

yes indeed not a direct way without a car. You should consider hiring one, www.autoeurope.com www.kemwel.com this is a central bus system in Spain including most of the major companies such as Alsa movelia.es/es/buscar_comprar... by train is no direct either need passing by Palencia; +-6 hrs, so since I have done it many times ,the car is king.
