I just bought an airline ticket to Santiago de Compostela, but suddenly realized that, when I arrive at the airport, it would be (after) midnight! There surely won't be any more buses, but even the taxis may no longer wait for customers! What should I do? I don't know anyone there and there is no hotel in the airport. Is there a hot-line for taxis that still operate at this hour? Any other safe, secure idea? Thanks!!
Presumably you will book a hotel before you arrive? If so, then the hotel will be able to arrange a taxi for you if you wish. But if a flight arrives at any airport there will be taxis waiting; they do not ignore potential custom.

I would be very surprised if there were no taxis at the airport when you arrive. In the (unlikely) case there is none, and no one around there to call, as said above, you may call to your hotel. It would not be a wise idea arriving somewhere at midnight without having you lodging arranged. Or call to Radio Taxi Compostela, Tel. (+34) 981 569 292 (no idea if they speak English, just get this number from a phone directory) Last bus not least, relax, midnight is not "that late" in Spain ;-)

Thanks, guys. I just could not be sure if there will be any taxi around still after midnight, and I have a feeling that Santiago is a small, kind of remote place where not everyone speaks English. Are there any Santiago residents who is familar with the airport taxi situation? And do you think the taxi operator (thanks for the telephone number) will be still working then? I certain will book a hotel (the one closest to the Airport is already full), but I am not sure if the hotel management is willing to send someone at this hour to pick me.

You impression of SdC is very wrong. As one of the most visited locations in Spain it is hardly remote. However you are correct in that not everyone speaks English, especially the older generations. So When you land,,, yes there will be taxis…. Have the address written down. Hers is the link to the airport’s website. All the information you want is here. aena.es/csee/Satellite?pagen...

Why the hotel would not be willing to send you a taxi? They usually get a commission for these services and the taxi drivers are usually more than happy to get some extra money with an airport service But as said, it's more likely you don't have any problems, most likely there will be taxis waiting at the airport. Never arrived to SdC at night, but I did in more remote airports and survived. You are not arriving that late and it's not a remote destination in the middle of nowhere. It's a very visited town since more than 1000 years ago :))) You don't need a hotel close to the airport, Santiago airport is just about 10 Km from the city center. A taxi to the center will cost you only a few euros and 10 minutes more

Thanks everyone, now I feel a lot better, a lot reassured. I have booked a hotel (hotels are more expensive there than in BCN!), but I don't feel like asking them to pick me up. Thanks for the time you took!
