Grand Tour of Los Angeles

Hi, We will only have 21/2 days in Santa Monica and with my parents in tow, I have come to the conclusion that a grand tour of LA via coach would probably be appropriate. There seem to be alot of companies offering this tour (around51) - can anyone recommend one? All seem to say that we need to book at least 72 hours in advance - is this true? Would it be cheaper if we bought the trip in Santa Monica? Thanks again!! Kirsti
