Hi there, Myself and some friends are travelling to California from London, UK for a bachelor party. We then plan to drive down the coast, ending up in LA. We plan to spend a night in Santa Barbara. Whilst we are there, I would like some help on the best area to stay. Which location is close to all the action? Also, can anyone suggest activities we could do in the day, or night (bars/clubs etc). There are the obvious things, like the wineries, but can anyone suggest things more tailored towards a bachelor party? Thanks
Hey Cali, my last suggestions for Santa Barbara....all the university action is located out in Goleta which is a suburban part of Santa Barbara. In town itself, you want to be situated near State Street as that is what we would call the 'main drag' through town and where most of the action can be found. My best friend from college lives in Goleta and I visit him frequently. As Roberta says there is a hub of action in Goleta. Specifically I went to a party at the Elephant Bar which is near the airport. For downtown I would think you would like a place that is near the wharf or ocean. Problem is a lot of the properties there are super expensive live the Four Seasons. One place that is really nice and is less than two blocks from the wharf is the Castillo Inn at the Beach. Also very close to State Street. The hotel is basically a motel than has had a pretty amazing remodeling. Great rooms and friendly staff. For good brews try the Santa Barbara Brewing Company on 501 State Street.

Just to clarify, Spearmint Rhino is a full on strip club, while Hooters is a resto/bar with staff tending to a females appearance rather than specific job skills. The SR in not in the City center (State Street) and quite ways from Goleta. Make sure you have a designated driver or hire a taxi. The police in Santa Barbara are very attentive to drunken drivers..
