Vacation in August

by BillinStLou Online Now Mar 12, 2010 at 4:34 PM

We're planning a trip in August and are considering Sanibel. Will it be too hot, even on the ocean? What about those no-see-ums? When are they out and can they be avoided? We hear they come out at dusk. Are they out all night?

It will be hot, but you'll get the best rates of the year on your hotel room and most of the time you won't have to wait for a table at any of the restaurants. As far as the no see ums are concerned, Avon's Skin-So-Soft repels them - actually, I think the oil drowns them. They'll find you any time of the day and night.

It will be hot but the beach always as a good wind which is nice. No see ums are around depending on the way the wind is blowing mostly in the morning, and dusk..just jump in the water..Never really had an experience of them being out all night and have had alot of beach experience.
