I proposed to visit sandakan in March 2007. I will Spend 4days 3 night in sandakan. The places i wish to go are turtle island, sepilok orang utan. Besides these any other place to go? if anyone know which travel tour company organise the tour to these place? If i go myself to these place which one is cheaper? how to go?? Which hotel in Sandakan is cheaper and near to the towm centre?
Hi We are travelling to Sandakan in a few days. We are staying at Sepilok Jungle resort in order to see the orangutans (www.sepilokjungleresort.com) and Johnny who runs it has been really helpful. He can organise any tour you want and if you look on the website there are a few examples. Tours to Turtle Island are easy to arrange as they are popular. A friend has also recommended a visit to Gomantong Caves to see the bats and a river safari. Sepilok resort offers a few day package which covers most of these. In Sandakan there isn't a lot of choice for accommodation so we booked Hotel Sandakan as it was the cheapest. Hope this helps.
