overnighting at El Salvador International Airport (SAL)

by FlyingElizabeth Online Now Mar 31, 2011 at 6:11 PM

in May, I'll be overnighting at El Salvador International Airport (a.k.a. Comalapa International Airport or SAL). Unfortunately, I land around 10pm and depart the next morning around 7:15am. I'm hoping to find something more interesting (but safe too) than just a van/shuttle to the airport hotel and an early wake-up call. Any ideas?? Thanks!!

      Unknown hotel?

by sandraf Online Now Jul 22, 2010 at 10:27 AM

We already booked 3 nights in a hotel in San Salvador but now I realize that in the whole net I can't find nearly any comment to the hotel. The name is Árbol de Sueños and it should be at La Escalon in front of the Hotel Radisson. Somebody knows it or had been there? Thank you very much!

I've read excellent reviews of Siesta, but none give a price range estimate. What is the (year 2010) range of room prices at Siesta? And what is the size and quality of the rooms for either two or even one person at Siesta? Thank you.

by hisgalsal Online Now Jun 14, 2009 at 6:15 PM

I am a U.S. citizen wanting to travel with my fiance who is from El Salvador, next year. As El Salvadorean citizens need to show financial status to apply for visa's, do U.S. citizens need too, also? Also, if we marry in El Salvador do we have to re marry in U.S. for marriage to be recognized? I want to marry outside, maybe on a mountain or hillside over looking the city of San Salvador during a sunset or during sunset on a beach there? Anyone know of such a place? Thanks for the response.

My wife and I will be arriving after dark (9PM) at the San Salvador Ticabus station. We will be staying overnight and possibly an extra day before continuing on with ticabus. What is a good hotel to stay at, and will they come to the station to pick us up, or do we need to hire a taxi. If a taxi, is there a "safe" way for gringos to get a taxi after dark at the ticabus station? Thanks, Ron

    • flying into San Salvador, want to be in Copan Ruinas next day, early as possible

by pianoforrest Online Now Jan 6, 2006 at 8:40 AM

I'm having a lot of trouble finding any definitive bus schedules out of San Salvador anywhere on the web. I'm going to be in San Salvador on the afternoon of Jan 15, and want to be in Copan Ruinas, Honduras, by not later than noon on the 16th. the next day. The way I see it, there are three ways to go: 1. bus San Salvador-San Pedro Sula, then to Copan Ruinas 2. bus San Salvador-El Poy-Santa Rosa de Copan-La Entrada-Copan Ruinas 3. bus San Salvador-Guatemala City, then to Copan Ruinas I just want to be sure I have enough time in Copan Ruinas, because I will be heading for Antigua on the 17th. Who knows which would be the best way to go? Any specific bus information would be appreciated. Apparently Hedman-Alas is no longer running direct service between San Salvador and Copan.

I don't want to go to Managua, just a town near Guasaule, so my questions are, from which bus station in San Salvador can I catch a bus to El Amatillo? How long does it take? How much does it cost? From el Amatillo is it easy to catch a bus to el Guasaule? How long does that take? Thanks a million:)

Hello to everyone!! I am in search of a place to stay in El Salvador. I am visiting in March 2005, and staying through June 2005. I have a friend that lives in San Salvador that I will be staying with for a short period of time. However, I am also looking for a place to stay on the beach. Preferably a beach house. I have been unsuccessful with the web-sites offered so far. Are there any sites that you can provide me that I may have better luck searching? Location is not of an importance to me. I just want to make sure that I am somewhere on the ocean. Please help!!! Kindly, Dena
