Does anyone know how to get from San Remo to Monte Carlo? Do non-EU citizens need a visa to get there? I'm guessing not. Which way is faster? By car or by train? (sometimes train are faster since they don't get stuck in traffic)

I'm planning to stay in San Remo for about 4-5 days for the beach scene as part of my cross country trip to Italy and didn't find any tips here. Can someone recommend nice restaurants, bars and clubs? They don't have to be pricey, we are looking for places with crowds in their 20s & 30s. How is the shopping scene there? Any shopping districts with stores that sell funky and hip clothing? We are not looking for the regular sightseeing tourist program, we are more interested in the social scene.

Can anyone tell me what's the best way to get from San Remo to Aix? I imagine is's by train, but the trenitalia website does not list the prices, and I need to know what the cost would be. Also, I think it's supposed to take just about 2 hours to get there by car, but the fastest train I found on trenitalia.com takes 4 hours to get there... Any insights would be much appreciated! Kate
