Hi Next June I will be traveling to just outside of San Gimignano for a wedding. We will be staying in San Gimignano and would like to do a day trip to the Cinque Terra. Will trying to do a day trip give us enough time to drive there and back and still have enough time to spend seeing the area? We would like to do the hikes between the three southern villages.
Our tentative plan is to leave Florence in the morning, take the bus to San Gimignano, look around for a few hours, then atch another bus to Siena ( for the Palio ). Will there be any problems doing this on a Sunday? As I recall, some in some small Italian towns, almost everything except the church shuts down on Sundays. Thanks HB

If we catch an early bus (8:15) from Florence to Poggibonsi and then the bus to San Gimignano, how much time is sufficient for seeing the town before busing over to Siena? I know this is a terrible question, but I'd like to eat lunch at a little restaurant I know in Siena and have the afternoon there before returning to Florence. Thanks!

Hello to all - My wife and I will be visiting the Tuscan countryside in early July. We are camping for a few nights in Barberino Val d'Elsa. She loves horses and I would like to take her on a horse riding day trip in Tuscany. We are renting a car and visiting some of the hills towns and beautiful countryside for 2 days, so I don't want an extended horse riding trek, just a a day trip. I was wondering if anyone knew of some around the Barberino Val d'Elsa area? We aren't planning on renting the car for the day we are doing the horse trip, so I would prefer something somewhat closer to the campground (maybe like a 10-15km radius), but we can take bus/train to get there, no problem. Any advice or recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Also, for our 2 days of traveling in the car, if you have some "can't miss - must see" towns, drives, or spots I would love to hear that as well. Thank you so much!! - Ryan
Hello, I stayed in an apt in Chiusi several years ago and seem unable to find it online. Does anyone have any information about the property named Casale i due Merli. The owners name was Mazza and very charming. We'd like to rent an apartment this summer but can't locate them. Thank you. Margot Laskin
I purchased a baseball cap with the CHIANTICLASSICO BLACK ROOSTER LOGO on it during our one week stay in SAN GIMIGNANO. My 12 yr. old grandson fell in love with it and asked if he could wear it to school. He lost it! Can someone please give me the name of the shop in SG where I purchased it so I can buy another one (or two)? I cannot express how appreciative I would be for this information. Contact me @ dadagian@comcast.net or if in the states, 508-542-5335. Thank you.

We are three couples that are thinking of renting a villa in San Gimignano for 2 weeks starting on September 5th. I have several questions that I hope you can help me with. First, how crowded is it at that time of year? Is it a good location to see the surrounding area? We have a car, any recomendations for things to see and do during our stay? We also enjoy wine and cooking, are there any wineries or wine bars that you would recomend or culinary activities? Thank you in advance for all your help. rbp

When in San Gm a couple of years ago I bought some beautiful waffle cotton towels. Since I have been unable to find any in NZ I wonder if anyone can help with the name and address or website of a shop there which sells this kind of linen. Some of the towels had monogrammes and none of the several I brought back has a manufacturer label on them. These were Italian made and great quality. I would appreciate some help.
