I will travel to the u.s. as a tourist and would like to use my smartphone(Samsung 1510 that uses the 3G) in USA , with a data package (100MB) --would be enough for 2 months). Please note that international roaming is too expensive in this case. I need these data packages, for example, to be able to use Skype. Guess the best in the sates are AT&T and T_Mobile? Can I, as a tourist use this service? I need to have an American address, not the address of the hotel? Can I make and receive local calls and SMS?How can I buy this service from Brazil? Need to change the cell chip? What is the cost? Which are the best companies to ask for? Thank you very much
You've probaly not got any respnses as you've essentiall SPAMMED VT with your request. Only ONE is really needed. Cell Service in the US is not my forte, but there are services by ATT and others that provide similar service as you are looking for, but at a price. 100MG could last quit a while unless you are online 24x7. I use an ATT service for Mexico but I do not know of one for US/Brazil. Explore the various plans that support your phone.

If someone isn't used to the way VT nests forums, they may think that they must make multiple postings. It's what has to be done in certain other web forums and with Usenet Newsgroups if asking a question that applies to multiple categories. You might try contacting Virgin Mobile. They have various plans, but most of them are on a per-month basis rather than a two year basis (most USA companies require a two year contract). I'm not sure how you go about getting their service without having to purchase a new phone (most USA carriers insist you purchase a new phone when getting service from them) but it may be worth trying to see if they would be willing to do this. However, I don't think Virgin has as large a network as some of the other companies.

Aside from Virgin Mobile another low cost carrier that you can buy for a short time while in the U.S. is boostmobile. Their coverage is mainly in the East Coast and California but costs are lower than T-Mobile for a prepaid short duration use. Here is their link; http://www.boostmobile.com/coverage/

I'm guessing that your Samsung 1510 is the SCH-i510 Droid Charge. Since that's most likely a CDMA phone, ask Verizon if you can activate the phone as prepaid, Sprint is also an option but it's got a smaller network. Another option is to buy a used smartphone off of eBay that's compatible with T-Mobile, then and buy a T-Mobile SIM card and get on its prepaid monthly plan. I actually use this and it's great. I think with ATT you have you buy the phone from them.
