Simple question; hard answer. All depends on what you like and don't like and what day of the week plus what other mitigating factors are involved, like making it to the airport on time, etc. GG Bridge is easy but there are many ways of getting there. Are you traveling by car (private or otherwise), public transportation, etc? If by car and you want to include a bit of the city sights you can take a round about trip through the city (takes a bit of time) to get to Lombard Street heading north. Consider North Beach, China Town, Twin Peaks (might be a bit out of the way), Hwy 1 to Cliff House and the beach area (going or coming back), Ghiradelli Square, Fisherman's Wharf, Coit Tower, etc. I'd then get off on one side or the other (or both) to get some static views of the city and the bridge; this might include walking a bit of the bridge if the weather is good. Careful, even a great day in SF might mean cold wind on the bridge. As long as you're part way there, you could consider continuing on to Sausalito for snacks and yet a different view of the city. Back in SF, again everything is based on what you'd like to do and see. I'd recommend perhaps a drive through Golden Gate Park for some photo ops of the Museums and gardens. You'll not have much time to stop and visit the museums but you could perhaps take in one depending on what else in the City you want to see.

And you've got to try my favorite intro to SF. Riding the length of the Hyde Powell Line Cable Car line starting at Market Street and ending near the bay with a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge. This was my first introduction to San Francisco almost 27 years ago and still one of most awe inspiring moments was cresting the hill on that line and my first view of the San Francisco Bay and Alcatraz island.

Good suggestions by others. Cable Car ride is a must as is Chinatown which can be done while on a Cable Car ride. I like the Powell-Hyde line which can begin at either Powell & Market (downtown) or near Fisherman's Wharf at the turntables. The ride goes by Chinatown (largest outside of Asia) , the view of the bay with Alcatraz and passes by the "crookedness street in America" per the San Francisco PR. While at the complexes of Ghirardelli Square, Fisherman's Wharf, and Pier 39 can take some time to explore, try to squeeze in a sail with Adventure Cat Sailing near Pier 39. See my Virtual Tip on the sail: "SAILING, SAILING, OVER THE BOUNDING MAIN" - San Francisco Things to Do Tip by travelgourmet My Virtual Tourist Video of a segment of the Powell-Hyde line: "FOUR BLOCKS ON A CABLE CAR TO LOMBARD STREET" - San Francisco Video by travelgourmet Tours of San Francisco: fishermanswharf.org/visit.as...

Seven hours isn't a lot of time. But if you're going to the Golden Gate Bridge anyway, you can also stop and tour Fort Point, the Civil War fort under the San Francisco side of the Bridge. The new Walt Disney Museum (about his life)is not far away, in the Presidio. Chinatown is fun for the whole family. Walk down Grant Avenue, browse through the shops, have noodles or dim sum for lunch. If you have small children with you, they would enjoy the YMCA and Portsmouth Square playgrounds in Chinatown.

Oh my goodness! 7 hours? I wish I lived there!!! OK, I'm sure many would agree, but I think the best way to see San Francisco in that amount of time would be to hop on a tour bus. You will see all of the sights, get inside knowledge from people who live there, and you have the opportunity to get off the bus at a particular place of interest and get back on once you've finished exploring. The company I would recommend would be City Sightseeing (it's generally a red open to bus). Choose the route with the Golden gate bridge in it first as it drives over the bridge, and depending on the fog, you can get an amazing view of San Francisco from the other side!! I'll find the website and post it!! Have fun in my favourite City! Hayley :)

I think you should book a hotel for one day staying. In hotels there is all the facilities available like dinner, breakfast, etc. You can also go for visiting some places leaving your luggage in hotel. http://paradorgranada.com/
