We're arriving late to Nob Hill Motor Inn on a Saturday evening and was given a great tip by someone to catch the Hyde cable car at 11pm to Fisherman's Wharf for an Irish coffee...SOUNDS GREAT! My only worry is transportation back. How late do the cable cars run (I'm really unfamiliar with transit systems in large cities) and do the public transits run after bar closing time. Maybe a taxi would be the best bet? Your suggestions??
At this time of the night, I would take a cab. They are relatively inexpensive in San Francisco. Are you going to the Buena Vista? Have a great time.

I agree -- you'll just take a cab in the later hours. Shouldn't be a problem. And yes, you must be going to the Buena Vista for irish coffees, taking the Hyde Street cable car. Perfecto!

Cable cars run until 12 midnight. Taxi should not be a problem, if you have trouble getting one, ask the coffee shop to call you one. Nob Hill and Fisherman's Wharf is fairly close.

Thanks all for your posts (what a keen eye...yes we're going to Buena Vista.) From your responses, I think we've made a wise choice. Thanks again!

If you like irish coffee, then the B.V. is THE place to go. It's got a fun atmosphere, and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. That was the site of the first night of what turned in to a three day mega VT blowout party a couple years ago (Jan 31, Feb 1 & Feb 2 of 2003). The B.V. was where many of us met, face to face, for the first time. Good memories! Crazy photos still float about VT from that weekend...
