San Diego

We will be landing in San Diego at 9am and then our flight home doesn't leave until 1pm. Is there anything we could do with an 18 month old (zoo? sea world? other?) during that length of layover. We would have to be back at the airport by noon, so not a ton of time really, but a bit too long to be hanging out at an airport with a bored toddler. We obviously won't rent a car, so would need to take some form of public transit. Sorry, if my question is ridiculous or unrealistic! Our trip is actually to Arizona, but we're flying home via San Diego and just realized the length of the layover, so we've done zero research on this city. Hoping you fine folks can help steer us in some kind of direction - even if it's recommending we stay put. Thanks!

i am going to San Diego to go to college although i am looking for a part time job at the same time. Does anyone know where i can work without a working visa? Other than the school.

Hi All - I have been scuba diving at La Jolla Cove, but what are some other areas in San Diego or surrounds? Also, any recommendations on companies to go with? We like to dive with a guide since we're still fairly new. Thanks!

We will be staying for several days near Jamul, which is inland from San Diego. Does anybody have an recommendations for things to do, places to eat, attractions, etc in that area?

I am very familiar with San Diego proper, so I know much of what there is to do there - I'm looking specifically for info on the interior region.

We are 2 adults and 2 kids, adventurous, outdoors-oriented, lovers of good food, nice parks, odd roadside attractions, etc.

What's the best way to get from SD to LA?

I am active, enjoy walking but since this is my first visit to San Diego, need help on best location for hotel. Senior citizen, so will enjoy few day trips and need help if I decide to travel along coastline, where I can overnight to enjoy ocean. Might consider Gaslamp area for first 2 nights to visit city highlights, am thinking of staying near Oceanside/Cartbad area for next few days. Are these good choices, going north and easy to reach with public transportation? Have been to Santa Barbara and San Lluis Obispo and would like to hear of other stops enroute to San Francisco that I can enjoy. Have been to Monterey and Carmel and if that is best choice will stop over again to enjoy. Last time had a hard time finding affordable hotel in Santa Barbara so need some choices if anyone can help. Does anyone know why the trains are not going into San Diego on January 12, 2013? Will I have problems driving to the Convention Center on that morning or early afternoon? Thank you in advance.

My wife and I along with another couple will be in San Diego in march for a 4 day week end. We want to stay near the Gas Lamp district, all walking. No zoo or other travel needed. We would like to stay near the water and the gas lamp area, to walk around, good eats and drinks. In our 50's. Where would you recommend? We just want to hang out, walk around and have fun. Thanks

Hello! So me and three of my friends will be in town December 26-29 for a bachelorette party (we are all in our lower 30s), and we are staying in the Gaslamp district. We're looking for some fun bars/pubs to hit up... rowdier the better! Know of any place that might have some fun activities? I'm thinking wet t-shirt contest...

Our travel agent has recommended staying at the island palms hotel and marina out on shelter island dr. San Diego. This is proving difficult to get to our parks - zoo and legoland as we have no car. The public transport doesnt seem to get us there also. What is the best way to access these areas? is it best to get a car for the 4 days we there. Holiday June 21-27th 2013. Family of 4. Hi, I will be in San Diego the first week of December. I have a few questions. Is there any special event going on that week? Do i need to rent a car or can i get around town with public transportation like i did in San Francisco? Does San Diego have an equivalent Citypass like San Fran? I can't decide on where to stay....maybe downtown so i can get around easier to other tourist spots? Any suggestions on that? Are there 3 star hotels in downtown for100? I was thinking about using priceline, but not sure yet. Also, how far is it from Del Mar from downtown time wise? Sorry about all these questions. I have alot going through my mind. Thanks.

I have always been fascinated by the idea of a San Diego Vacation. Finally, I have managed to spare a week to fulfill my longtime desire. Have my calendar marked for a vacation during Thanksgiving week. Friends, those of you who have already been to San Diego, please suggest me some good budget hotels in San Diego. Also help me with some information regarding the events taking place during that very week so that I can make the most of my long overdue San Diego vacation.

My daughter is moving to San Diego in November and is looking for a two bedroom apartment in the Point Loma or Mission Bay area primarily. Any suggestions as to particular areas to avoid or possible problems she wouldn't know about? Are there any furnished ones or are most unfurnished?

G is going to discuss with the hosts the top 5 spots for multi-generational American families to visit during the holidays. One of the cities is San Diego. Here's where we need your advice! We're looking for the best things that families can do in the spots during the holiday season: any local insider tips, where families must eat, things to do, budget tips and best budget-friendly/family-friendly hotels in each of these locations. We're doing our own research in the travel guides, but wanted to ask for your advice as well. If you know of something that we should include in the segment, please let us know! I will be staying at the Ocean Park Inn hotel for the Brazilian Festival on September 9th on Pacific Beach. Can anyone recommend affordable restarants for lunch and dinner in that area?

Hi all. We're planning a visit to San Diego in late August, early September. We'll be there over the Labor Day weekend. This year we're going to be on a limited budget and looking to stretch our entertainment dollars as much as possible. We've seen the Festival of Sails event that's going on and wonder how much can you see and do without paying the actual admission price. I know that there is a vendor area that is free. Hi everyone. Listen worried mum here, my husband and I taking a road trip to California in July with our 2 boys ted(15) and paddy(10). We finish our trip in San Diego and have booked a condo for a week . My worry is that the condo is in mission beach and when I looked on this site this is one of the places to avoid . This trip is for us is a holiday of a lifetime and to give my boys a deserved treat . My eldest son ted was diagnosed with teaticular cancer last August ( aged 14) and has underwent extensive chemotheraphy so this is very much for us something my family need . What is the best and cheapest way to get to San Diego from LAX?

Is anyone familiar with Handlery Hotel and Resort in SD please? Website makes it look nice and we have been offered a reasonable rate there. We have 3 nts in SD and have a car. We wish to visit eg. sea World, Mission Beach, possibly USS Midway plus do a bit of shopping. Is the location of the hotel ok?

I'll be travelling to San Diego soon. Does anyone know of a nice hotel that has a bar/night club/dance floor and which is open really late on weekends (after midnight). I also prefer it not to break the bank, so the cheaper the better within reason. I don't mind if it's pretty far away from the city center. Recommendations welcome!

I am planning a trip with my family to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park over the Easter break. I was wondering if the park would be more or less crowded on Easter Sunday. We have the option of going on a weekday during the break as well, but thought it might be busier because many are off that week. Any tips or suggestions as to the best time to go and any tips while at the park would be greatly appreciated. I have an 11 and 12 year old and I hear there is a lot of walking which is fine for us.
