I've been doing some research on attending tapings of live studio audience TV tapings - and have seen that the minimum age is 10. I have a younger child (7) who would enjoy a couple of the Disney shows that are available to attend. Are the age restrictions strictly enforced? Thanks.

Hello All, I intend to spend 3days of my vacation in Los Angeles sometime next month. I am travelling from West Africa.
Since this is my first time in LA, I would appreciate any useful advice on the best location to stay in LA – in terms of safety, security, and access by bus or train to areas of attractions. Information on reasonably priced hotel would also be helpful.
Secondly, would also appreciate any advice on the best way to utilize my time and have enough fun. I like pubs, nightclubs, sightseeing, hopping, nice place to eat, etc.

    • North of San Francisco

San Francisco Mar 6, 2015 at 1:20 PM

Hi guys! Me and my family (5 pax) are planning to spend around 17/20 days:

Fly to Las Vegas - Grand Canyon (4 days - Arrive, Rent a car in Vegas go directly to GCanyon, spend 2 nights, back to Vegas, spend 2 nights

From Vegas fly to ??? (I do not know where - help needed) north of San Francisco

Spend 5 to 7 days in the area North of San Francisco (when I say north, I mean up to Vancouver)

Coming south (car) spend 2 nights in Yosemite.

Go to San Francisco 2 nights

Spend 3 nights going to LA

      From LA back home

      Total around 17/19 days.

I need help with the ??? area. Where can I go north of San Francisco? The date will be end of january, first days of february next year. So, winter time. We like both visiting cities/museums (Getty Museum close to LA) and landscapes like Muir Woods, Yosemite, etc. We will not allow time to do skiing. We might consider renting a motor home for a couple of days (3 or 4 days).

I will gladly receive critics to my schedule and any comments will be welcome!!!!

      Unique, family-friendly attractions & restaurants

by taryn21 Online Now Nov 11, 2014 at 1:40 PM

My family (kids are 4, 1) is going to be spending about 3 weeks in San Diego from end of Nov into Dec. We'll be staying in Mission Beach.

      Would love suggestions for:
      - great family-friendly restaurants (we love seafood, Mexican, Italian... almost anything!) - nothing to high-end fancy ;)
      - attractions (we'll hit the Zoo & Safari Park, prob a day trip up to Knott's Berry Farm or Disneyland) - are there additional "off-the beaten path" kind of attractions that locals would recommend in/around the area? i.e. We would love to take our kids to a local fruit orchard.
      - speaking of Knott's Berry Farm or Disneyland - for our kids' ages, we thought with short attention spans/naps, that they would prob have just as much fun at Knott's and with it being less expensive... it might be better suited? thoughts?
      - shopping - if I can sneak away from the family, I'd love to hit up some great vintage/thrift stores, flea markets, fabric/sewing stores.
      - farmer's markets - are any "better" than the next?
      - transportation - we're renting a car. is parking/getting around fairly easy?

Any suggestions/ideas are welcome! Our trip is coming up fast and we can't wait for our kids to get to experience it!

Need great agent to assist finding a rentals!

      Hey VTers,
My son and his lady are relocating to San Diego for work and need to be there in 2 weeks. They love the Hillcrest/Bankers Hill/North Park areas and could use a local agent there who really knows the available rentals there and can assist. Either paid through them or the landlord - they know this is a service of value!
I know there are services for doing this with automotive purchases - surely there is a service for an agent who can know and show ALL the rentals, not just the ones in their firm. Any tips, suggestions?

    • Hotels near Mission or Pacific Beach

by MCCP Online Now Jul 14, 2014 at 9:39 AM

I am so confused. We want to go to the beach in San Diego in a few weeks. I know, a lot is already taken. I had thought that Ocean Beach would be good, but I think that Mission or Pacific Beach might be better since we want to swim, boogie board, etc, and I keep reading that OB has a riptide and seaweed issue. We also like to people watch, eat at taco type joints, etc. It's just my husband, me, and our 15-year old son. We would like to stay in a hotel close to the beach - that we can reach by bike or walking. We don't mind walking a mile or so, but would like it to be a somewhat pleasant walk. Would one of the Mission Bay hotels be okay for our purposes? There's a few still available and the prices aren't too horrendous - $250+. Thanks for any help.

      Area to stay

by iccuf Online Now Mar 9, 2014 at 7:13 PM

My husband and I are planning a trip to San Diego in June to run the half marathon. It has been 18 years since we were in San Diego. Should we get a hotel out by the bay or downtown in the Gaslamp District? We'll have a car, so I am not so concerned with getting to and from the race as what area would be more fun to be in. Is this district a place one would enjoy just getting out and walking around - day and night - or just a place to go to for a meal?
