Hotel Question

by Robin83 Online Now Apr 1, 2012 at 5:43 AM

I'll be travelling to San Diego soon. Does anyone know of a nice hotel that has a bar/night club/dance floor and which is open really late on weekends (after midnight). I also prefer it not to break the bank, so the cheaper the better within reason. I don't mind if it's pretty far away from the city center. Recommendations welcome!

It is difficult to help you with a succinct answer here for two reasons. First, I can't think of a hotel with a vibrant dance floor. Most hotels do have some sort of bar/lounge/nightclub type venue and they mostly stay open until 2:00 am. Howerver, not all are attracting a big draw. Second, you say cheaper the better within reason. I don't know what "within reason" means to you. Still I'd suggest a hotel in the Gaslamp Quarter might be the best choice. The Gaslamp Quarter is a hot and vibrant place to be at night and very popular, not just for tourits, but also the "locals." The clubs you might like the most are within walking distance of the holtels and there is a great variety to choose, from dive--Dick's Last Resort to HOT--FLUXX.

Right off the bat, Humphrey's on Shelter Island comes to mind. But it's hard to say without knowing exactly what you're looking for, like Linda says. Age group is important to a lot of people, particularly since San Diego has a lot of "meat market" type places with mostly 20-somethings. But, if that's what you're looking for, you don't want a place with a live band that plays Van Morrison covers.
