Im trying to cycle from Chile to Bariloche and then on to Tierra del Fuego. Does the road from Osorno take you thru Pto Montt? Can the lake crossing be done by bicycle? Thanx Luis
I have 5 days to go from Bariloche to Santiago and I want to rent a car to do it with my family. Any recommendations on the best spots to stop and the best way to do it? Would this be too long for 5 days? How long would the drives be?. Is it easy to find hotels/family hostels without booking in advance? Thanks a lot. Raul
Hi, Has any VT'er done the Route 40 Safari from Bariloche to Calafate (or vice versa) - visitbariloche.com/overland/... . We're thinking of booking this trip for January, hence it would be great to get feedback from anyone who has done the trip. Thanks, Barry

I am planning a trip to Argentina again in October, and would like to know the best and possibly cheapest way to get to bariloche from BA?
I am planning a trip with my wife for our 25th wedding anniversary. I am considering this route, but I admit that I am a bit nervous because of the winter season. Please advise: * Is it too cold to take this tour around June 30? what is the average temperature in Bariloche and Puerto Montt? and how long it takes to go from one to the other at the end of June? * I read that July is very crowded in Bariloche, but I imagine most people go to ski. Neither my wife or I ski, although we might be interested in a one-day instruction for the fun of it. Is it reasonable to expect hotel availability around this time of the year? Is it worth to visit in the winter if we are not skiing? By the way, I can pay up to100 per night for hotel. Any recommendations? Thank you
While living in Argentina in the early 70's we had the delight of eating a chocolate that was very light and airy. It was full of small holes and when placed in the mouth began to melt immediately. Since returning to the U.S. I have been unable to locate it and was wondering if anyone knows the name of this delicious chocolate and where I can obtain it. Thank you in advance for any information you may be able to supply. Lynn
Hey, Myself and two of my buddies are travelling to Bariloche in June 15th for a week. We have booked a house from Barilcohe Appartments 15Km out of town, they are suppossed to be luxury Houses by the Lake. Just wondering if anyone could recommend an intinery for the week? Does anyone know anything about the houses/company I'm talking about and would you have any tips? Will it be lively there at that time of the year? How cold will it be? We have heard that there's a brewery in Bariloche? Cheers, Pat
Hi all, Well in the planning stages for the last sector of our round the world trip - South America. All very exciting and all very daunting! It's so big....LOL. At the moment I researched and got us as far as Bariloche, from here we want to head south to El Calafate, the month will be July/early August - winter of course. I found a tour that went down but only in summer, Aerolineas are quite expensive to fly and dont fly direct until the middle of August. So, buses - maybe take a bus to Comodoro Rivadavia and another onwards? Has anyone any recommendations? Done this trip in winter? Have any other suggestions? I have tryed looking at viabariloche and andesmar without any luck! We are short on time and money for this trip!Any idea of timetables and bus fares ? Many thanks in advance Ali x
Is there a recommended or preferred way to travel from Puerto Montt to Bariloche? Can you fly from Bariloche to Buenos Aires? Cheers, John Koens jlkoens@bigpond.com
A few months ago we read a wonderful review about the Patagonia Paraiso Hosteria in Villa la Angostura. So we reserved 5 nights in February. We have now read an awful review of the place. So we really would like to hear from someone who knows the place and can tell us what it really is like. Help ! !
Considering a trip to Bariloche for skiing this summer. In preliminary reading, sounds like July is to be avoided because of crowding from school breaks. But I recently read something about college breaks in August which I might like to avoid as well. Is there a "best time" in the month of August or is early September a better bet? Thanks!
I would like to travel from Buenos Aires to Bariloche by train in March. My prefered travel dates are the 6th, 7th or 8th. So the question is has anyone done this or know how I might arrange it? Larry Clark

Dear Community, My wife and I will be in Puerto Montt, Chile on March 13,2006 and would like to take the bus across the mountain to Bariloche. I have tried several different websites to try and determine the bus schedule and cost and they have all been old sited and have been returned as undeliverable. If anyone could tell me the actual schedule and cost I would be greatly appreciative. My wife and I would also like to do some budget flyfishing. That means that we cannot afford a guide and would appreciate suggestions. We like to wade small to medium streams. We are both in our mid 50 and cannot handle the big water anymore. We usually fish with a 5 or 6 weight flyrod. Would this be big enough for the smaller streams. I would really appreciate the name and location of some small streams that do not require special access premission. We will rent a car in Bariloche and have about 5 days for the fishing and can go North or South according to your suggestions. We appreciate all of your help but first we have to get from Puerto Montt to Bariloch and then back to Puerto Montt. All suggestions appreciated. Thank You, Steve
Have you done this trek? Which part of it would you recommend as very scenic, I will not be able to do the whole 5 days traverse. Thank you.
Hi, we plan to be in this area in the end of March. We both like the nature/outdoor activities (hiking, biking, kayaking) and found out there is a Nahuel Huapi trek, but what to do beside that? Also- how crowded is it in the last week of March? thank you!
Hi all, Does anyone have an advice/information about Bungalows Ruca Piren? It has been suggested as a cozy place to end my holiday (before taking an extend series of flights to Melbourne).
