Hi! We would like to go from Salvador to Morro de S Paulo, but the trips seem to be very expensive -70 reais-, can anyone recommend a cheaper way? Thanx!!
Are you a strong swimmer? ;-) You may want to look at the combined price for the ferry to Itaparica, bus to Valencia and launch through to MSP.

You have direct busses from Salvador to Valenca and from there you have the little local ferry that carries goods to the island. That is a cheaper option than the tourist catamaran and Valenca is really a lovely little town that is worth an overnight stay.

You're paying for the speed (2 hours) and convenience of the catamaran with your quoted price. The slower route (about 4 hours) is cheaper. the car ferry from Salvador to Itaparica (about R$4) bus from Bom Despacho on Itaparica to Valencia (about R$7) local bus from ferry terminal in Valenca down the road a bit to slow boat to MSP (about R$7) or the fast launch (R$14)
