I need advice I ahve Nissan Armada, will start my journ from AbuDhabi at 8pm on 5th June, I plane to travel at night and reach in the morning at Salalah, Is it right to travel at night?

Hello, Am planning to drive to Salalah.Can anyone advice me on the most optimal route to Salalah from Dubai.Also please suggest which are routes which has the most scenery. I am planning to cover it one day starting very early at around 4 am. It would be very helpful if any of you would be kind enough to share the route map. Based on experience, normally when does the Khareef monsoon starts in Salalah? When can one expect to see the green sceneries? This is because I may be at Dubai or Abu Dhabi around 11-12 June, and is thinking of visiting Salalah if the Khareef has started and the green sceneries can be seen. Also, are there buses that travel from Dubai or Abu Dhabi to Salalah on a regular basis? Regards Victor

Hi friends, I am planning to drive from Dubai to Salalah on 22-Sep, starting early in the morning with an intention to reach Salalah same evening. Can someone answer the following questions for me? 1. what is the travel duration if I drive at an average speed of 120 Kmph with a 15 min break every 2-3 hours? 2. What time should I start from Dubai if I want to reach by around 7pm in Salalah? 3. My car is under the bank's name. Is it ok if I drive through Oman border with my car under lien hypothecated to bank. 4. I have a Suzuki Grand Vitara which gives me a distance of about 400-450 on a single tankful. Do I need to carry extra fuel? 5. Any other driving tips?

Hi I'm traveling to Salalah in summer with my husband and our dog. As dogs are not aloud in hotels, we want to rent a villa. Does anyone have an idea how to find a place? Our dog is very well trained, very clean and doesn't bark. Thanks in advance. Heleen

hi im just wondering if there are other families like ours who will be heading to salalah on 5th Dec 2008 (eid break). i think it will be more fun and safer to travel in groups than travelling alone. if any other families planning the same can join us thanks aleesel

Heyloo All, Well, I live in Dubai and have for years wanted to plan a trip to Salalah with my Family. I decided that, that it! we're going this year! :D So I basically had quite a few questions, and was hoping the good people on this forum maybe able to answer. 1) Ive read that there is a way to avoid Muscat and just go straight to Salalah. Great!...my question...how long will it take? 2) Border pass- what do I need? Passport enough? Any restrictions on expiry dates etc? My passport is expiring in September 2008 (and most of my family's as well) 3) I may have cousins visiting during the same time, who will be on visit visa to the UAE, will they also be allowed to come to Oman as they are not a resident of UAE? If not, is there any other way to bring them along? 4) Can we take a Rental car across the border? If yes, Which rental company do you suggest we rent from? Also, are 4x4 necessary or a SUV is ok? 5) Hotel Accommodation- Do you suggest I book online or call them? Where do you suggest we stay? (p.s. not looking for a 5 star because dont plan on spending to much time in the hotel :D....) Also, any restrictions in bookings (such as xx days booking in advance etc)? 6) Planning to make the trip in August? Weather conditions? hello, I am from the Indian state of Kerala.It is believed that the last emperor of Kerala-Cheraman Perumal embraced Islam adopted the name Tajuddin and went to Makkah.It is believed that his grave is in salalah.Does any of you have any idea where his grave is located.if so can some one post a photo of it? Does anybody know anything about the fountain that originated back in the times of Hazrat Ayub? I have been told that a bath in its water can cure many skin diseases so I am trying to find where it is in Salalah. If anybody knows about it please do let me know! thanks!
