we are driving from Fussen to Lake Como, planning to stop in the St Mortiz area overnight to get a break from the drive and tour the are briefly the next morning. Can you recommend the more scenc drive? Is it along 27 or is it better to go down A13 and cut across from Thusis to St Moritz? Which is the easier drive?
A13 is the easier route, but you need the swiss highway sticker (vignette) for the A13. route 27 is a principal road and you don't need the sticker.

Thank you very much. When you say easier, does that mean faster, less turns? is it just as scenic as 27?

As I replied to your question on another forum, the drive via Fernpass, Landquart and up the Inn river valley to St. Moritz is the most scenic route. Also very easy to drive - no motorways/toll roads involved that would require a sticker. Just stay away from the dozen or so kilometres of Austrian motorway between Imst and Landeck, the parallel road is fine. If you really want to drive the A17 via Thusis make sure not to drive over the Julier pass - it is very busy, also with trucks, and not exactly most scenic IMO. The almost parallel Albula pass road via Bergün is more scenic and less frequented.
