I'm almost 18, but heard the french are more relaxed about drinking ages as long as its within reason, is this the case in the bars in saint-malo? Im meant to be going this month and would like to know please
They weren't relaxed about it in the area of SW France I have just spent 4 weeks travelling around! I'm well over 18 by the way. There were big signs everywhere stating that serving alcohol to U-18's is interdit, ditto tobacco products. They are having the same issues as the UK right now. The local paper had an article about the excesses of youth in which they used the phrase, untranslated . The price of beer in a bar is frightening - I didn't pay less than €4,80 for 50cl (ie less than an a pint) although as in UK supermarket prices are much, much cheaper. You might be OK in St Malo, but then again you might be asked to produce ID. No ID, no drink.
