I'm almost 18, but heard the french are more relaxed about drinking ages as long as its within reason, is this the case in the bars in saint-malo? Im meant to be going this month and would like to know please
No idea about bars, but if you go to a restaurant with friends or family, you can have a glass of wine with your meal without any problems. That is, unless you look about 12.

Thinks must have changed then. I remember being able to buy a beer in a French bar without any problem when I was 15.

At the moment the waiters are knackered with serving so many tourists, so they probably wouldn't bother asking, especially if you look the part. Would be very different in the discos, may even ask your ID for getting in, never mind serving you a drink. Remember in France ID must be carried at all times.

-->> KVB, I remember buying beer in an English pub when I was 16,in 1963, but it doesn't mean anyone van get away with it especially today.

Ha ha,that's a new one they may bring out for the 2012 elections or perhaps retirees have to pay more tax on their drinks.
