    • Driving from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas

Salt Lake City Jun 5, 2013 at 8:27 AM

I need to travel from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas. I will rent a car of Compact Ford Focus for this trip. I plan the trip by Google Map and it shows that I need to drive for 447 ml with 6 hour 30 mins for the whole trip. I want to take two or three times of break during this long distance driving. Can you tell me where should I take the break and refuel with gas ? Thank you

    • Getting around Southern Utah's parks carless

      Utah Jun 6, 2013 at 12:43 PM

So I'm planning a trip out to southern Utah to check out the parks and the ones on my target list are: Zion, Cedar Breaks, Grand Staircase, and Bryce.

I'll be flying into Vegas and taking a bus either to St George or Cedar City to begin with. I have 4 or 5 days and have to end my trip in Cedar City.

Now I just need to figure out if it's possible to pull this off without a car. I know I could manage Zion and Cedar Breaks on a rented bike since I could bike out there from their closest cities (St George and Cedar City respectively, I believe), but I don't know if it's possible to get the other ones. Even better, however, is if there existed buses or shuttles in between the parks. I know a lot of them have shuttles within them, but I want to know if they go between.

Not sure if I want to try my hand at hitchhiking, since I'm a sole female traveler, but I'd be open to it if it's legal and safe...Maybe getting rides from others camping nearby could be an option but then it would be hard to stick to my desired schedule.

I'm open to all suggestions except renting a car or taking an expensive tour, I have a very limited budget and am generally not a fan of tours.

      Thanks!

    • Itinerary for Utah's five national parks

      Utah May 27, 2013 at 6:54 PM

My family is considering taking a long road trip, spending some of the time in Utah. I'd like to visit all five national parks, but we might not have a lot of time. So I'm wondering, what's the fastest that you can go through all the parks without feeling terribly rushed? We wouldn't be doing any super long hikes or anything (probably 2 mi. round trip in most instances). And with whatever amount of days that you suggest, which parks would you visit each day and where would you stay?

Also, I know there are several national monuments, Glen Canyon NRA, and Monument Valley as well, so if any of those are can't miss, let me know. Or if one of the national parks could be skipped to give more time to other stuff, let me know as well.

    • Advice about Grand Canyon ?

by elmoman1 Online Now Apr 20, 2009 at 2:35 PM

I would like to visit the Grand Canyon from St George but I will only have one day to spend. Having never been to the Grand Canyon before I am hoping that someone could give me some advice about how to use the time. After looking at maps, I think that I could drive to the Grand Canyon Lodge and then drive back the same day. I assume that there would be a good view at this location. Please give me any comments or suggestions. Thank you, Elmo
