It sounds like the structure that is sitting is from the 1700s. Is there anything left of the 1575 home? There is a home in Maine, the John Bray House, that was built in 1662.
I visited St. Georges Street in St. Augustine last week and regret not buying a couple of purses that I saw. The shop was full of all kinds of purses, but the owner had a large inventory of Mary Frances purses. Does anybody know the name of the shop and how I can get in touch?
My wife and I are planning to visit the St. Aug area this weekend (Aug 10-12). Can anyone recommend a Down to Earth Bar or Club where anything goes and living on the edge is acceptable and not frowned upon. We are in our late 30's mid 40's couple. Not much into the disco or dancing scene. A place that offers good music, crowd and atmosphere is prefered. Thanks in advace.
Who and Where was the lions made at? When the Lions where made did they not put ears on them, and when they requested the person to return to put ears on the Lions the person already passed away, is this true? Thank You Sean Barrett

Is St. Augustine a dog friendly town? We like to walk around with our dogs.
Hello travelling friends, We're heading to Orlando in December and are thinking of visiting St. Augustine while we're down. We're undecided as to how long to stay. It would be 4 adults and 2 young (under 4) children. Normally I wouldn't hesitate to stay for a weekend, but with the kids, I'm not sure if we should just make it a day trip. So my question is: can it be done without rushing in one day? Or is it best to stay the night? Also, from what I've read here and elsewhere, I get the impression that all the tourist attractions are within walking distance, is this correct? Im sure I'll have more questions...thanks for any advice!
Hello everyone, I'm considering a trip to St. Augustine, based on a friend telling me how pretty it is, and also that it's not just a 'beach town' (Important, since I want to go to the beach, but I want to do other things as well. I'm a woman, traveling alone, and I don't drive, but I was told that the trolly goes alot of places, including to the beach, and there are things to see and do in St. Augustine itself. My questions are...I'm considering the Holiday Inn Downtown Historic District. It has a pool, and it is supposed to be centrally located, anyone have any ideas on it? Do they have a contienetal breakfast? the other is I'm wondering what else is around to see and do for someone traveling alone? Is there evening enternatinment, or do they just roll up the sidewalks? Any ideas are appreciated. Thankyou, Fyre
We are staying at Grande Villas at golf world outside of St. Augustine but the courses there seem very expensive. Anyone have any recommendations for a reasonably priced public course?
Hi! My original plans for a January trip to Florida have had to be scrapped. Now I'm considering the possibility of St. Augustine. So far I've been able to find lots of info on places of historical interest (which is good) but none at all on any nature preserves, hiking areas, or good places for birding & general nature watching. Also, can anyone give me a feel for how "busy-busy" the place is? I'm looking for sun, fresh air, nature & quiet. Any suggestions? Thanks!!!! Hwesta
