Is saarbrucken considered a border city for the France railpass, as Salzburg & Kufstein are? If not, is thers an inexpensive way to get in to a french station (i e Forbach) each day to use a france pass? Does Forbach have a ticket office? thankyou
Which Frence rail pass do you have? I know of the Saar-Lor-Lux ticket, which is good for these three regions , on Saturday or Sunday,20 Euro for one person, more expensive for a group. fahrkarten.bahn.de/privatkun... Sorry, I didn't find an English page. Then there is a special Saar-Lorraine price, you can get regular tickets cheaper to travel between Saarland and Lorraine. Forbach has an SNCF office, gares-en-mouvement.com/infos...

Unsure about the rail pass question but, a tram leaves from just outside Saarbrücken railway station with Sarregumines (spelling?), in France, rail station as it's final stop. Journey time around 25 mins. Hope this helps Alan

> Is saarbrucken considered a border city for the France railpass, as Salzburg & Kufstein are? No. Only with Austria and Switzerland the relations were also in the past so relaxed that solutions like that the borders of the railway systems are not identical with the political borders were possible.

There is also a local bus,No.30, connecting Saarbrücken and Forbach. You can check the times on bahn.de, just be sure to spell Saarbruecken with UE, if you cannot type the two dots.
