      Frankfurt in a 2 or 3 hour

Frankfurt am Main May 23, 2013 at 10:05 AM

Hi everybody!!! I am arriving from Buenos Aires to Frankfurt airport (FRA)Terminal 1 on Sunday 09/06/2013 at 11:10 AM and departing the same day to Palermo, Sicily Italia (PMO) by flight LH 338 Lufthansa Cityline: 09/06/2013 at 16:05 PM. I have to make the check inn at Cityline before to take the plane to Palermo. And the question is: Will I have the time to see the city town of Frankfurt in 2 or 3 hour? I only pretend to have a coffee and see the sight from outside. May be to do some shopping. What do you think about? it is possible? People told me that there are trains S9 than get to the town in 30 minutes. It is to crazy to go to the city town? it is better to remain in the airport? I dont speak any germany and my english is very basic. I really apreciate any advice about that. Many thanks for your help!!

    • 11 hour layover in Frankfurt

Frankfurt am Main May 28, 2013 at 10:38 PM

Hello, I will be travelling to southeast Europe this July from Detroit, USA (Lufthansa airlines) and I have a layover of 11 hours and 20 mins at the Frankfurt airport. I think this would be more than sufficient time to see some of the city. From the little research I've done, I've found out that the airport is in the city only about 7.5 miles from central Frankfurt.

I've never left an airport on a layover before so how do I go about doing this? And what should I see and do in the hours I have? And what is the best method of transportation to get from the airport to the city-centre?

Also, the layover is from 9:10 am to 8:30 pm and the flight is to Ljubljana with Adria Airways. I will be travelling with one other person. Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks!

    • Ferry boats

by alt627 Online Now Jul 14, 2010 at 3:32 AM

Do any of the ferry boats make stops at some of the towns (such as Rudesheim), along the way so you can walk around? I'm arriving in Mainz in August and I'm really interested in seeing the romantic Rhine valley, but I'd like to be able to walk around some of the towns instead of just seeing it from the boat only. Help ??

      Cologne - Rüdesheim - Bingen - Cologne

by Archway Online Now Jan 28, 2007 at 6:05 AM

I'd like to take a short day trip from Cologne on a Sunday in Feb. I would very much like to take a slow train along the Rhine to Rüdesheim and then cross over the Bingen to take a faster train back to Cologne. This way I can travel both sides of the Rhine by train. I under stand that it is possible to get a ferry as a footpassenger from Rüdesheim to Bingen. However, there is some uncertainty regarding the ferry service. 1) Can anyone confirm if the ferry service runs on a Sunday in Feb or not? 2) Can anyone tell me if there is more than one ferry operator that crosses the Rhine between Rüdesheim and Bingen on a Sunday in Feb? 3) Is it possible to walk from Rüdesheim station to the ferry and how long does it take? 4) Is it possible to walk from the ferry in Bingen to the main station in Bingen and how long does it take? According to www.bahn.de, there is a ferry, but it doesn't state the ferry operator or the dates/times of operation.
