How long should I stay in Rothemburg city ?

by fabiosantiag Online Now Jun 21, 2009 at 8:12 AM

Dear touristmate, I'm planning a trip by car throughout the Romantic Road on September this year. I'll have enough time to do that. I've read about a nightly tour conduct by a man with a lantern and so I'd like to try it. Please, could somebody tell me if it really worth and, if the answer in affirmative, how long should I stay in Rothemburg ? Thanks in advance.

Are you writing about Rothenburg ob der Tauber?
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rothen...

Maybe it helps if you post it in the forum again under correct name. I have been there but did not take the tour. It is a nice town, but probably enough to stay there for a day or two.

We have another town called Dinkelsbühl. Maybe you like it aswell:
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dinkel...
    dinkelsbuehl.de/ISY/index.ph...

Take care and have a nice stay!
    Christian.

Hi, I agree, a couple days is plenty in Rothenburg. We did not go on the tour (man with the lantern) but the crowd that followed him around seemed very entertained by his narrative. We only were a little unhappy because one of his stops was right under our open bedroom window and we had to leave early the next morning. You could them coming all the way down the street. I think if we returned to Rothenburg that the tour would be nice.

Thanks a lot, friends ! I think stay for two and a half day is enough. Next time, I'll change the city's name.
Besides, I've been thinking about Dinskelsburg and so the tip was a great value to me.
Good trips and thanks again !

    Do you know this page:
    romantischestrasse.de/?lang=...
It is about the romatic road. Just saw that Dinkelsbühl is on the road too.
    And on wiki: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romant...
On another page it is written, that some parts of the road are not really romantic, due to traffic. They recommend to use small side roads to get along the less scenic parts.
    Cheers,Christian.

Don't worry regarding the naming, it is sometimes confusing with the names. Especially with many languages involved... ;)

The "Romantic Road" is not really romantic. It is a normaly "Bundesstrasse" (Road) between the towns along this route. It connects the historic towns in south germany.

The man with the lantern BTW is called Nightwatchman (in German: Nachtwächter).

    Here is more info:

    nightwatchman.de/index.php?c...

The road surely is not romantic but many places along the road are.
