Could anyone give suggestions on places in/near Rothenburg where we could go horseback riding through the countryside for an hour or two? We will not have a car, so something within walking or taxi distance from old town would be perfect. Thanks!

Not really a suggestion but, your question brings back memories. On one of our visits to Rothenburg, we were sitting outside of the Akzent Hotel Schranne on Schraannen Platz (bier in hand of course) and 3 riders on horseback stopped in for a bier also. One of those nice quaint experiences to remember. Possibly there are other opportunities to rent a horse in the area.
