Yeah, I can only imagine that sort of singing in a tourist trap. Sorry. Understand that even the Italy I first lived in 40 years ago no longer exists... Bill

Not quite what you are looking for...but if you dine at La Cisterna restaurant in Trastevere you will be serenaded at your table by two elderly waiters playing Volare etc... Maybe if you closed your eyes and jumped up and down a bit, you could imagine you were in a bawdy and noisy bar.

I'm sure OP's looking for something else then some singers and musicians in a restaurant where [usually] customers are not singing a 'stornello' and dancing tarantella! Also today, very rare, sometime during summer in Rome iy happens there are some square/street where people put tables and have dinner together, singing and dancing. It's very rare and very 'local' and there's no 'calendar' for these happening (flash moabs have ancient roots ), anyway in Rome lately there are less Romans and things like these are almost gone.

"I'm sure OP's looking for something else then some singers and musicians in a restaurant where [usually] customers are not singing a 'stornello' and dancing tarantella!" Hey, just offering up a suggestion to the OP about an experience I had in Rome, which at the time was memorable (at least for me). There were probably eighty people in the restaurant and everyone was dancing about and singing and just having fun really. Suppose you had to be there...

i think it's time to make that dream come true - if you've got the hutspha - have a couple glasses of vino and just start singing - see what happens ! you only go around once !

Ahhh !!! The old hutspha and if I
    translate that it's audacity
Well that's what it will take
What's worst that can happen I'll
be tossed out on my ear !!!
Then I just walk away singing
    Your advise is invaluable
