We will be arriving Late into Rome next week . Will be staying around the Termini station the Esquilino area . Is it ok to arrive into restaurants circa 10 PM for a meal , or is this too late ? Any ideas would be most appreciated.
I can't give you specifics around that area (although I could in another month or so!) but should have no problem finding a place to eat at that hour. Romans tend to go to dinner later rather than earlier so you'll be fine.

It is quite possible that the restaurants will have locals only arriving to eat at that time (or slightly earlier). Dining in Italy at 10:00pm is not a problem.

Meid in Nepols is a good place very near Termini: meidinnepols.com/catalogo.as... My review: Meid in Nepols: "Used by locals, good value" - Rome Restaurant Tip by leics (it was new when we used it...twice). As is the Antica Taverna nearby: Antica Taverna: "Good basic food" - Antica Taverna Tip by leics 10pm is fine. Italians tend to eat late.

i am sure you will be all right - i was invited to go out to dinner with locals once - we were to meet at 9-30 - well they arsed about and arsed about until i was sure we would not get dinner at all that night - we rocked up to the restaurant at midnight and that was fine with everyone, except me who is used to eating at 7

it's the normal time for supper in Rome, before it's usually only for tourists.

I think there are probably some open around 10PM, but I would't be too sure.

Um, Cheapreuropeantravel, if you've ever been to Italy you'd know that 10:00 is not that late for dinner.

As am not sure on name, but just across the main street to Termini Station there was a Pizzeria which I had some sips and late dinner about midnight time of period ... Enjoy ur journey to Italy ... :)

Kate most of the restaurants in the north of Italy, not pizzeria, at 10pm are closing.

I haven't noticed that to be the case on previous visits to the north of Italy. They weren't closing at 10pm in Mestre a couple of weeks ago (hardly a tourist hotspot and hardly the busiest time of year). But it depends where the restaurants are, of course.

Just going on what we experienced in Italy last time, and research for this next trip: have seen a fair amount with openings posted to the midnight hour. And the OP is specifically asking about Rome so... LOL, nothing wrong with good Italian pizza!

I'm sorry I DO NOT CONSIDER MC DONALD or other fast food like restaurant :)) to me it happened many times to go to some 'pizzeria' or 'osterie' or similar place in Bologna because the restaurant cousine closed at 21-21:30, but this happened also in Florence, also in Parma, also in many many other part of north Italy... of course if you want really eat, you can be able to find out something at 2am, if not a 'autogrill', it could be a bakery laboratory where it can be found pizza or bread or 'crescenta' just made, also {WOW-wow-WOW} , still hot, just made, bomboloni caldi alla crema.... I do not know how to say here a pic gustoatavola.altervista.org/... or also some caravan inside a parking where piadina&porketta or kebab never miss till sunrise... of course you have to know where they are or someone has to take you there to find these places. Anyway in Italy there are different habits, in the south part of the Country, at home people never have dinner before 9pm (and lunch after 2pm) when usually dinner time in the north it's 7-7:30 pm (and lunch before 1pm)...

But no one said anything about McDonalds. And the OP did not mention going anywhere but Rome.

right, what I just want to say that's not true 'that 10:00 is not that late for dinner' in Italy, in many part of the Country it could be actually late, not in Rome, where it's normal supper time.. BTW there'll be a meeting in Bergamo soon, I remember Trattoria Sant’Ambroeus, it's at Bergamo Alta, not really expensive and good local cusine. It's not very big, 40/50 people so better check before

We booked the three main restaurant meals in Bergamo quite a long time ago, cgf, ...that's essential when you need somewhere to cater for up to 100+ people. But thank you for the tip. Perhaps you'd like to join us? You can still sign up for any of the meals, or for any other numerous mini-meets over the weekend, or for the main event itself. :-)
