Hello,
I am planning a trip to Romania in july, and I encountered a few questions which I am having trouble finding answers to:
1. I plan to stay one night at cabana Omu and one night at cabana Curmatura during two hiking trips at Bucegi mountain and Piatra craiului, and I would like to know if I must bring with me a sleeping bag (I prefer to travel as light as possible, of course)?
2. I read that it is important to book my stay in this two cabanas during the summer, and I would like to know how can I do that besides via phone (I don't speak Romanian)?
3. This is a more general question – do you have a recommended route for 1-2 days at Piatra craiului that starts and ends at Zarnesti?
My current plan is to visit Zarnesti Gorges and hike only to Piatra mica via cabana curmatura on day one, before heading back to Zarnesti in the following morning.

Im travelling to Bucharest in June and Im wondering can somebody answer the following questions for me.I have checked the Romanian Railway website,but I cannot get it to translate into English,even though it says you can.
1.Bucharest to Tulcea by train, how long will it take,roughly how much it will cost and the train departing and arrival times?
2.Bucharest to Galati by train, how long will it take,roughly how much will it cost and the departing and arrival times?
3.Bucharest to Husi by train, how long will it take,roughly how much will it cost and the departing and arrival times?
4.Bucharest to Ruse by train, how long will it take, roughly how much will it cost and the departing and arrival times?
5.Bucharest to Drobeta Turnu Severin by train, how long will it take, roughly how much will it cost and the departing and arrival times?

Can you tell me if its possible to travel to the following places by train,taxi,or bus
Tulcea to Izmail (Ukraine)
Galati to Cahul (Moldova)
Husi to Karpineny (Moldova)
Drobeta Turnu Severin to Negotin (Serbia)
Drobeta Turnu Severin to Kladovo (Serbia)
Bucharest to Ruse (Bulgaria)
I know its a lot to ask for but I would like to travel to some of these countries as a day trip or a overnight stay but I want to work out the best options for me.Thank you for any help you can offer.Chris.

Hi - I plan to fly in and out Bucharest airport. Wanted to know more about car rental and driving in Romania
- Any recommended rental company?
- Do we need GPS or road signs are easy to navigate?
- Is it easy to drive around (which side of the road is it?)
- Are there any specific driving rules to take note of?
- Is parking generally free or expensive?

The route I am considering:
Bucharest - Sinaia (Peles Castle) - Brasov (day trip to Rasnov and Bran) - Sighishoara - Bucharest
(i.e. after flying in around noon to head to Sinaia, then visit the sights / attractions, finally from Sigishoara drive back to Bucharest and spend 2 nights in Bucharest)
Please let me know is this a good route or suggest alternative. Thanks!

Hi - I am just wondering if someone can share a possible 5-6 days itenary (fly in to Bucharest?) Thought of visiting Romania (first time visit) sometime in August. At this stage only doing very prelim research, would be helpful if someone can highlight places to visit and possible cities to cover, then I can look into it more and ask specific questions.

My area of interest more on sightseeing and taking photos (so I think beautiful scenery and castles are great), architecture etc... not so much on shopping.

Also would it be too farfetched to fly in to Bucharest, fly out from Budapest (so I get to see Budapest too) or just advisable to see more of Romania?

Now that my busy season is over I am trying to figure the logistics of getting to and from Sibiu for the VT euromeet. I would like to visit Budapest afterwards. It looks like there is an all-day train that leaves in the morning and gets to Budapest around 17:00, or one has to go to Bucharest or fly back out to Vienna or Munich. Any other suggestions? If I take the train, can I expect to be able to purchase the tickets easily a couple of days in advance? Thanks all, Karl

Are there any Sushi restaurants in Sibiu?...from my research on the net I can find only one listed on the street of lights which does pizza and sushi and this seems like a VERY odd mix and the pictures dont look too inviting...anyone know of any others?

How to travel from Sibiu to Suceava and vice versa? The quickest and cheapest way pls. how much would it cost and how long would the journey be?

Would you recommend a 3 week visit to Romania with a 4 year old girl? I'm an anxious Mum about it, and debating travelling with Romanian husband to visit his family (in the South-West of Romania). Do you think it would be an enjoyable trip for me and my daughter?!!! Or is it a bit too scary? My concern is that it will be stressful and dangerous (health-wise and physically).

Does anyone know if there is a luggage storage at Otopeni airport , and if so how much it costs/day? We need to store bags for a day (probably 8-9 hours), and we will pick them up when we fly to Baia Mare. Does anyone have any other advice for where we can store a bag for that long? We expect to enter Romania by camper on 27thApril for one month. Can anyone offer ideas of good campsites and of course good sites to visit during our stay. Thanks in anticipation.

Are there any outlet shops in romania? Outlet means cheaper then normal price.

I've been trying to figure out what short direct flights I can find out of Romania. I fly there every six months and I usually make an extra trip out of my layover.

One year I flew into Iasi, and I had a stop over in Vienna. But as far as I know, flying out of Iasi my only options are pretty much Iasi-Vienna with Austrian Airlines or Iasi-Bucharest with Tamron.

Likewise, flying out of Bucharest, a few good options I see. I did Istanbul one year, it's a nice ~1.5-hr flight from Bucharest. I see Athens is another nice short international flight. This would make for a nice quick stop in Greece.

Any other ones you'd recommend?

Can someone advice any tour guides for a day tour to the Suceava monasteries in 05-May 2013? As I am travelling solo, I was quoted 500RON which is quite steep. I tried emailing to a few travel agencies but got no response from them. Does anyone know any good individual travel guide with a car that provide a monastery day tour at a more affordable rate?

I have heard that there is a very ethnic street market in Suceava, where the farmers come and sell their fruit and veg. I heard it was on Thursdays. Does anyone know if this is true, and if so, where it is?

We will be touring Romania in May and I am wanting to know a not about where to camp /.stay overnight. Is it safe to park overnight the sidemofmthe road or in villages. Is it legal etc.
