Hi I stayed in a tourotel Mariahilf in 2004. My wife and I went to a lovely basement restuarant south of Mariahilf Strasse and east of Mittelglasse area. I want to go back to Vienna but cant remember the name of the restaurant. it was a basement type restaurant but but only just below street level, it had sawdust on the floor and some locals had their dogs with them. it served Sekt and all local produce, very informal family run place.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
RH

What is the most effective way to reach Prague from Vienna? Bus or train? If the distance is only 250 kms why does it take nearly four hours to reach Prague? (Does train stop often)? Is a bus ride of 4 hours the way to go, is it a scenic drive?

What do you suggest to change??

We would like to visit this beautiful landscape with a car, I am 24 years old and I have the driving license with more than 4 years, but I don't have a car and I don't drive very often, I think that i don't have the enought experience in mountain driving, but this depends of the austrian roads condition. Do you recommend me to rent a car??
Do you know anybody that has visited austria without car? what do you recommend me to visit??

And also, How is it to visit in sunday? I guess the stores are closed.. but are the importent sights are open for visiters?
Thanks in advance
I am arriving to Hallstatt via bus, so I'm assuming they're dropping me off downtown. I am planning on staying in the city for a couple of hours and then taking a train to Vienna. Few q's
- Any place in the city to leave luggage?
- Any place where I could buy train tickets, or should I just take the boat accross and buy the tickets on the other side?
- Is the train station in Hallstatt manned? Can I buy tickets there on the spot (on a Saturday afternoon) or do I need to buy them in advance on the internet?
thanks!
Carlos

Hi -
We're planning a week's summer break in Tirol area, and are looking for recommendations about the best place to focus on... The most important thing for us is being able to use cable cars to get us on top of the mountains... The more cable cars in the area - the better it will be for us ;) A weekly "Active Card" is even better!
So far we have read about Zillertal valley and the Ötztal valley.
We will be arriving by car from Munich.
Any suggestions?
Dear all,
I bought online tickets to the Stadopera (balcony, of course) and I'm not sure if I can go dressed in jeans. I will be in Austria for 12 days and I'm not in a mood to carry also a dress, shoes, purse, etc.
Please advise, thank you for your time, Carmen
We are planning to reach Innsbruck from St. Moritz in the first week of October. From there we (me and my husband) plan to rent a car and drive around Austria. We have 8 full days and would like to start from Innsbruck and fly out of Vienna. Could you please suggest some places where we should definitely stop on our way and places we can stay overnight during our trip. We would like to see a little bit of everything (nature, architecture and anything else Austria is famous for).
Also needed some advice on how to rent a car (pre book it online/directly take from there) and would we require an international driving license. (We come from india).
I need to be able to get my Eurail pass delivered to Vienna. My Hostel refuses to accept it. Any suggestions? Thanks..i am under EXTREME time constraints
