Tourism Dept:. Opening times/Entrance fees to museums

by arismother Online Now Aug 17, 2011 at 8:56 AM

Does Rhodes have a Dept of Tourism - one that can be contacted by email??

I want to find out the opening times of museums and sites. Also whether there are entrance fees and what they are.

I will only be in Rhodes for a few hours - from 16.00 to 22.30, would like to know what there is to do/see in this short time.

Thanks

Michelle

The majority of the city's museums will be closed by 1600. The Palace of the Grand Master stays open until 2000.
Here's some info on other sights around the town -

The entry fee for every museum shouldn't be not more than 6 euros per person if my memory serves me well.

Don't skip the archaeological museum if you are interested in archaelogical findings. It is worth the visit.

Most museums everywhere in Greece are closed by 3:00pm. The most interesting place in Rhodes at the time you will be there, definitely is the walled castle. You can walk for hours and there will be many open and working shops and restaurants. I'm sure you will find plenty to see in this magnificent castle. At night, it's all lit up and many people walking around enjoying the views.

You can walk both inside the castle and on the walls!!! when I was there, there were guided on-the-wall tours every Tuesday. I'm sure that has changed by now, but I would ask when I was there to find out the times and days of those tours...very worth doing!
