We are from the Gulf Coast and are planning a late May, early June trip to the Park. We're probably flying into Denver (have considered driving) I had thought Estes Park would be the best place to stay for around 4 days, but now that I've found this forum, I thought I'd ask. Is there a better place to stay? We're not looking for lots of "town" things like mini golf of such. Thanks!
Estes Park is a very small and charming town just outside of Rocky Mountain. There are quite a number of accommodation here including log cabins. Nothing much to do here except the great outdoors.

Well, there's the Stanley Hotel up on the hill above Estes Park, if you're into The Shining scenery. ;) I've stayed at the YCMA camp on the southwest side of Estes Park -- it was great. Saw a baby black bear once. On the western side of the park, Grand Lake is nice.
