Hi I am meeting my daughters ship coming into Norfolk. I would like a place to see the ship "at sea" before it actually docks into Norfolk. Is there a good place to watch the ships come into harbor that is not on base?
Hi VTlers, I need some help, as it seemes difficult to find reliable information on the internet. What would be your best suggestion to get to Roanke from Germany? There is no direct flight, so what combination will be most reasonable? Fly Frankfurt New York then onwards? Fly Frankfurt Washington...? Thank you for any kind of suggestion or personal experience. Hi y'all, Don't know how many active VTers are in the area... but I'll be coming into town just for a day in October, then heading down to Martinsville for the NASCAR race. Can anyone suggest a good spot for a VT Meet on a Saturday afternoon/night? Thanks! David
First of all I am so glad to see Roanoke listed here, there was absolutely nothing on other sites. In a little more than two weeks I plan on visiting there. I would like to know if someone could suggest any places to stayover in this town? Most of what is on this site either seems to be a little more than what I wanted to pay or it does not say enough about things such as location and what is offered. I am thinking more along the lines of youth hostels, guest houses, or perhaps dormitories. Now I was glad to read on here that most of the places in town can be reached by walking and that there is local bus service. This is because I will not be driving and arriving either by bus or train. While there I do have reseach to do at places like the library and historical society. I also plan on visiting the Transportation Museum. Now I would not pay a little more for something like a guest house as long as it is in this area.
Hey, I go to Roanoke College and my friends and I are looking for a fun place to go dancing etc. However, not all of us are 21...so is the cornerstone 21 and up? Are there any places that are 18 and up? Thanks for your help! Kate
It has been a long time since I have been to Roanoke for night life. Can anyone tell me of a bar or pub that you can just go and chill out. Maybe grab a bite to eat, drink beer,listen to music (hip hop or r&b, blues. I am a white female around 47 that dates a black male. Thanks for any help.
We are going to be in Roanoke for a soccer tournament the first weekend of April. Two of the boys will be turning 16 years old. What things are there to do to celebrate? Any suggestions?
I keep hearing that beautiful Roanoke has a serious air quality problem with ozone and possibly other things. Can anyone comment? What's causing the problem, and is it getting better or worse? Thanks!
