Hi there, I want to take the night train leaving at 20:45 from Rijeka to Villach (boarder station to Austria). From there I have a rail pass to join Germany. I have no trouble to find timetables, however it's very difficult to find fares online. Can one tell me what the approximate price for the ticket (without any supplements, just a seat) would be? And if I take a sleeper from Rijeka to Munich, what would the supplement be? Thanks a lot Reifel
If you have a German rail pass you'll need a ticket to Salzburg, not Villach, as your pass does not cover Austria. The standard TCV fare Rijeka - Salzburg is 63,20 according to www.bahn.de. However you'd be better of forgetting about your pass (or using your pass for other trips) and buying a ticket Rijeka - München directly from DB, as you can get an all in ticket Rijeka - München for 49,-

Thank you for your reply. I know what you mean, however I have a rail voucher valid for a single trip from any austrian station to any german station, so Villach would be fine. However I cannot find any price information on bahn.de for the portion Rijeka-Villach.

Standard TCV tariff for Rijeka - Villach is 36,20 It is possible that cheaper tickets are available locally. (The TCV tariff is the international, distance based tariff used by railway companies when they want to write out tickets for trips on other networks. The Czech railways have a nice online webform where you can look up these prices here: http://jizdenka.idos.cz/IT.aspx) The supplement for couchette will probably be something like 20 euro. Sleeping car is more comfortable, but alos somewhat more expensive (but worth it in my opinion).

I'm back and can confirm the following prices for tickets bought in Rijeka: 1) Rijeka-Sapjane (GR) // border to Slovenia // 28,10 HRK 2) Rijeka-Ljubljana // 102.10 HRK 3) Rijeka-Jesenice (GR) // border to Austria // 148 HRK Basically the Ticket from Rijeka to the boarder Slovenia/Austria is approx 20 EUR.

Thanks for the feedback. That it cost less was to be expected. Especially in Easter Europe locally bought tickets are often cheaper than the TCV tariff.
